Bonjour,

Hi,

in Outlook 2011 for Mac I installed 2 e-mail-accounts via IMAP. One of the e-mail-addresses is generated out of an own domain.

The following problem occurs by transfering e-mails manually from my inbox to the folder "filing". After a few seconds the e-mail doubles: one time "read" and one time "unread". This only happens if I transfer the mails to this specific folder "filing". If I transfer it to the folder "sent items" or "deleted items" they do not double.

I tried to create new folder via the server and via outlook, tried to repair it, deactivated all settings and recreated it.

It seems the e-mails are uploaded twice on the server.

If I look at my "Gmail-server" it all runs properly without problems.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Every day when I open my outlook the search option works well.

During the day it simply stops to work.

Sometimes the search option is there but I can´t write anything or disappear totally, only the word search is there.

What do I have to do to solve this problem?

Thank you very much.

Fabio

Split from this thread.

I think running an Outlook update may resolve this issue. I have 14.4.7 and now things are better.

However, I have noticed recently that sending an email with attachment does not work and i get a message saying the connection with server is dropped. If i send a message with no attachment it goes through. Any suggestions?

Hi

I'm helping a user who uses Outlook 2011 on his new retina-MacBook Pro which is running OS X Yosemite. He has 1 IMAP account setup in Outlook. He can reliably see all IMAP-server based folders. He recently setup some local folders in the "On My Mac" section within Outlook. Consistently, within minutes of opening Outlook all of the sub-fodlers in the On My Mac section will vanish. He isn't touching this folders. He's merely dealing with messages in his Inbox when the sub-folders vanish. The only way he can get the folders to re-appear is to restart Outlook. He has rebuilt his Outlook database and the problem persists. All Office 2011 updates have been installed. Any suggestions?

I know I could export all of the subfolders into a .OLM file and then build a new Identity and import those folders and setup his IMAP account again. I can do this but I wonder if anybody has seen this issue before and/or has any less time-consuming troubleshooting suggestions. Thanks. --Tim

I have a rule to move messages from an IMAP inbox to a folder "On My Computer" and change the status to read. It has stopped working in the last few days, although a similar (more complicated) rule still works with a different IMAP account. I have several other rules, too. I cannot recall having done anything that might have affected that, although I did instal an OSX security update on Jan 29. I am running OSX 10.9.5 and Outlook 14.4.7.

I have tried deleting and recreating the rule, deleting and recreating the account, moving the rule up to the top of the list of rules, enabling and disabling it, rebuilding the database, repairing permissions and possible a few other things I can't remember.

Any suggestions of something I might not have tried yet?

Cheers,
Madeline

Why does it take FOREVER to open Outlook?

Hi everybody!

My first post on here so please be gentle, especially as this might get a bit long for a first post.

I've got an odd problem with the installation of Office 2011 on my Mac Mini. It goes as follows:

Mac Mini - i5, late 2012, Yosemite fully updated.

I have a licensed copy of Outlook 2011 which is provided by the company I use for my Exchange mailbox (Fasthosts in the UK, running on Exchange 2013). There is no license key for that product as it is supposedly "locked" for use with my email account only. I installed it on my clean install of Yosemite and it auto-connected just fine and synchronised with my Exchange email account fully without problem.

Once that was working, I then installed Office 2011 Home & Student to get Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Unfortunately, there is also an unwanted and un-advertised "trial' version of Outlook 2011 included on the DVD which seems to mess-up the Exchange Server connection settings. I guess it's replacing some essential info somewhere, but there's no option NOT to install the Outlook trial and I can't reconfigure Outlook at all to make it work. (Tried deleting account and recreating, but it didn't help).

Where Outlook used to connect, now I get a prompt saying:

The server for account "W*******m" returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

Now I know that my username & password are correct (they worked before) so I guess the unwanted repeat installation of Outlook is messing up security somehow.

As an alternative approach, I deleted Office thoroughly and tried installing Office first and then my licensed copy of Outlook, but I just get the message that I need to upgrade the Office package to make Outlook work.  I've since repeated the full deletion of Office and reinstalled Outlook 2011 to my exchange account successfully, only to find that installing Office messes things up again.

I've gone round in circles trying different things and still end up with a non-working Outlook.

Does anybody have a clue how I might either fix (or identify) the info that is being trashed.
or
Any idea how I can tweak the installation of Office 2011 to forget about installing the unwanted trial version of Outlook?

Many thanks for reading all of that!
Best regards,
Paul.

I've been using outlook 2011 for a year with no issues.  In the last week, I stopped receiving mail through outlook.  I removed the account, then added back but the account just shows a yellow dot and does not connect period.  I can connect to OWA with no problems, I tried the microsoft exchange connection tool and Im able to connect (however the auto discover does not connect until the 4th try - forget what it was called).  The most frustrating thing, is that I can add the exchange account through my mac's native mail app and it connects and downloads mail no problem.  Any suggestions?  This is driving me crazy...
