I tend to mis-type contractions with a semicolon instead of an apostrophe. While I'm able to enter the mis-typed contractions in the autocorrect list in Word, I am not able to that in Outlook and it's driving me crazy (I know - I should just work on typing the words correctly...). When I attempt to enter the word "weren;t", for example, Outlook shortens it to "weren." Same goes for any semicolon contraction I attempt to add to the Replace column in Outlook. Is there a workaround?

Thanks in advance for any guidance (that doesn't include re-learning how to type!).

With my update to 14.5.0, Outlook is no longer hiding/showing properly.  From reading other posts, it seems like I might be lucky the window is appearing at all, however, the following is utterly repeatable:

Step 1:  With the Inbox window showing (can be lone window or can be multiple windows), hide Outlook using command-H or the choice to "Hide" in the Outlook drop-down menu.

Step 2:  Show Outlook in any way (command tab, dock, Drag Thing, Witch, etc.)

Step 3:  Click on any email in the Inbox.

Step 4:  Bang head in frustration, as that email will not appear in the reading pane, won't open when double-clicked, and is generally non-responsive.

The "fix" is to simply click the Inbox title bar.  Weird, I know.  But for some reason, "showing" Outlook is not COMPLETELY setting the focus to that Inbox that's open.  I've tried on multiple computers with the same, repeatable behavior.

Any chance of advice?

I am running OS X 10.9.5 on a Macbook Pro, and the Outlook version is was JUST RECENTLY (in the last few days) updated to 14.5.0, so I'm 99% sure that this update caused it... but I'm also pretty sure that I was running 14.2.0 prior to this update.  Happy to discuss:  *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Thanks.

Hi,

Yesterday I created a new PST file in Outlook 2013 Windows and put quite a few emails in there. I then closed the file and imported it in Outlook 2011 Mac. Now at the start of every line in an email there is text dplain. The PST file works fine under Outlook 2013 Windows. See below:

Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Thanks for any ideas.

It has a really bad impact om our work if using webmail instead of Outlook.

I dont think Microsoft cares  but it is really bad handling of paying customers.

The error was reported 13/5 and we installed the update 18/5 so there was plenty of time to recall the update.

Instead nothing was done and Microsoft tries to charge us money on support for their misstake.

Recently, I updated to MS Office 14.5.0. Many emails are missing. There appears to be corruption. I've read that some people are restoring to version 14.4.9. I have a backup from about a week ago, and most of my email accounts are are IMAP or POP (with recent mail on the server).

I think that my only solution is to restore from a backup. What are the steps to do this? Do I have to remove my 14.5 version first? I found some answers here:

This is quite inconvenient. Thanks for any help people can provide.

Yesterday evening I updated Microsoft Office 2011 to 14.5.0.  My iMAC is operating on Yosemite on 10.3.3.

Today, when I went to check e-mails on Outlook, the splash screen appeared briefly and disappeared.  The main Outlook window would not open.  I have tried rebooting (several times) while holding the option key to rebuild the identity file with no success.  I have deleted the Outlook pref file from the Library.  Still no success with the program. I can open the "e-mail message" under "file new" and compose and send an e-mail.  However, the main program window still will not open.

All other Office programs (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) open with no problems.  The problem seems to be associated with the update to Office 14.5.0 since that is all that has changed on my computer since I last successfully used Outlook.

Hope you can help!

Thanks.

I ran the most recent outlook update and now my outlook won't open. The splash screen comes up and I can see the program running at the top of my mac air and when I go to force quit, it is running,  but it does not open up.

I have tried  to rebuild the main identity and receive an error  ~18000, so it won't rebuild. I tried the terminal processes defaults delete.com.microsoft.Outlook and killall cgprefsd, which did not work etiher. Does anyone have any other suggestions please. I HAVE to get my emails back!!! Thank you

After today's update Outlook is opening but not showing the content anymore?

How to reverse the update?

Using my Microsoft Office Outlook on my macbook, outlook opens for about 10-15 seconds then message me that an error has occurred and MS Outlook must close.

First issue:

Last night, restarted my mac. When I opened it again and open my Office apps, I am hitting the error "Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues.".

There is a button "Try again" which will either redirect you to the same page, means still the screenshot above or will redirect me to the next page:

Notice that the NEXT button does not do anything. It does not redirect me to any next page. I tried to click the "View Privacy Statement" link at the bottom left just to see if the page works at all but it's not doing anything. I am stuck in here!

I have tried to do some of the advices I see online like Force Quit the app, restart the mac (I did like 30 times) since last night and nothing happens! Please help!
