I repeatedly get the following message when I try and collect my Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 email on my Macbook Pro 2014 model, with Yosemite OS and all of the latest product updates installed for all software on the machine

The server for account "(Server name removed by poster for privacy)" returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

- Password is correct.
- Password works on my iPhone, Outlook webmail, etc.
- Have tried deleting password saved in Keychain.
- Nothing seems to work.

This is disrupting my business. How do I stop it happening?

Please...

Giles

Hi everyone,

I recieve an error "Invalid mailbox name - ('.Junk-E-Mail.')" from my Microsoft Office Outlook 2011 - for Mac. The Software is up to date.

The Settings are right, as I can recieve and sends Mail. I can't change either the Junk-E-Mail-Folder of the Web-Mail-Client  either the Folder-name of the Outlook-Client.

Could someone help me?

Hi:

We just received the e-mail below. Two weird things:

1) We received a phone call yesterday from someone saying he is from Microsoft and wanted to access our Windows operating system for technical reasons

2) We don't run Windows on any computer. But we do run Office for Mac 2011.

Thanks for advice!

I'm using MacBook Pro and using Outlook 2011 for mac and use Imap.

I receive e-mail, but suddenly I cannot reply, reply all or forward any e-mail anymore, which I could before.

  1. I checked all the outgoing mail settings, port is 587
  2. I deleted my account and configured again
  3. I also tried pop configuration. None of them helped me to send again e-mail.

Thanks for your help!

Pawan,

I am downloading this update.

Can you tell me whats the difference between Outlook available as past of MS Office for Mac and the separate Microsoft Outlook for Mac. I can see that latter has limited functionalities and the versions are different too.

Thanks

Rashmi

Hey to all,

after updating Outlook to version 14.5.0 my personal folder in outlook crashed. I updated 1 day later to version 14.5.1, but nothing happened. Had to make identities and e-mail accounts new. How can I find my personal folder structure ? I have backups over the last weeks, but cannot find the folder in it ! Does somebody know how to restore the folder structure. Which extension has it ?

THX to anyone who can help me.

Regrads,

Oliver

Copied/pasted this from the Office 2016 for Mac Preview forum (http://community.office365.com/en-us/office_2016_preview/f/991/t/350352.aspx), but I'm seeing this also with Outlook 2011 for Mac.  Also posted here.

Hi,

I'm running the latest preview release of Outlook on my Mac (the entire suite actually), specifically version 15.10.0 (150508).  We've run into the issue with numerous additional users as well where we need the following scenario met:

- Free/Busy time only for the Default User.
- Need to set FolderVisible so that every user can open the calendar with theirs.

What we're running into is that although you can check it and save it, when you close out of the permissions and re-open them, the change is not actually saved.  We note, however, that Windows clients do not experience this issue, and in fact, their role/permissions level then becomes 'Custom'.

One other point to note, and I have issues with it, is that when I tested on my own user account, I see this when checking via PowerShell:

FolderName User AccessRights

---------- ---- ------------
Calendar Default {AvailabilityOnly}

What I don't see, and also cannot set via PowerShell, is whether or not FolderVisible is set.  I have looked at this article on Technet for this purpose.

 https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff522363%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

I think this is a bug, both at the PowerShell level, but also at the Outlook for Mac client level as well.  I seem to only be able to set this via the Windows client.  Also, while we're specifically wanting this against 'Default', this has proven to be the case even if we attempt against actual users.

Thanks!
Scott

Hi:

Weird. My main Outlook Window just disappeared. That is, I cannot access my inbox, folders, etc. since the window where all these items normally appears is nowhere to be found. Outlook seems to launch normally, but the main window has gone on a walkabout somewhere.

When I click on the yellow Outlook icon in the Dock I get the Outlook menu bar at the top of the screen (Apple Menu, Outlook, File, Edit, View, Message, Format, Tools, Window, Help, Apple Scripts).

File > New > E-Mail Message brings up the compose window box and I can successfully send a message from here.

So where did the main window go???

Outlook runs well on my work computer and my portable MBP, all of which have similar software setups. This issue just occurs on our home iMac.

The last thing that happened in Outlook when it was working was a window asking to upgrade Microsoft Silverlight. I have no idea what Silverlight does, but since it was from Microsoft I installed it and all seemed to go well. I have no idea if this is the issue or not, but it was a bit odd so it caught my eye.

OS 10.10.3

Office for Mac 2011 14.5.0

Any advice to get Outlook for Mac 2011 back working normally again would be really great; I totally depend upon this program.

Thank you!!!

PS More data! Was just working on my laptop and got the automatic Office upgrade reminder. I successfully installed the 14.5.0 upgrade on the MBP and the problem appeared. Thus, this seems to be an issue with the 14.5.0 upgrade. Help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

A user has setup an IMAP account  (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) and can send email out in office LAN that don't need smtp authentication.

When he works out of office that using mobile phone network, sending email needs smtp authentication for his company email server.

So he wants to setup two account with same email address.

1. Name: IMAP account - IMAP account (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***

2. Name: ms (outside) - POP account (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) and leave mail on server, SMTP needs authentication.  (for sending email only)

When he works out of office, he will choose "ms (outside)" account to send out email.

Probem is here. It will download all emails from POP account if check emails.  Though set schedule that don't check for  "ms (outside) - POP account", it still download all emails.

How to setup that only IMAP account check email only? The other POP account is just for SMTP Server.

Thanks.
