I have a Hazel

rule that’s watching a folder for any file added today. When it detects a file, it runs the following Applescript:

tell application "Microsoft Outlook" to activate

set recipientName to "Jerry"
set recipientAddress to "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***"
set theSubject to "Kramer's Invoice"
set theContent to "Please find Kramer's invoice attached.

Regards,
Jerry

"
set theAttachment to theFile

tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
   set theMessage to make new outgoing message with properties {subject:theSubject, content:theContent, visible:true}
   tell theMessage
      make new to recipient with properties {name:recipientName, address:recipientAddress}
make new attachment with properties {file name:theAttachment} at after the last character
   end tell
end tell

For some reason when this rule is saved, it’s changing the second instance of tell application "Microsoft Outlook" to tell application "Mail”. No matter how many times I try it just keeps changing it. Any thoughts on why and how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

Once that’s solved my goal is to introduce a date variable into both the Subject and Content of the email, i.e. I’d like the script to auto-detect the current month and populate accordingly so that ‘Kramer’s Invoice’ becomes ‘Kramer’s July Invoice’ and ‘Please find Kramer’s invoice attached’ becomes ‘Please find Kramer’s July Invoice attached’.

Having raised this issue with the Hazel forum, I’m told it’s an Applescript issue specific to Outlook. I’ve tested the script outside of Hazel using Apple’s Script Editor and it returns an error: Expected expression, etc. but found “:”. Within the script itself, the editor is highlighting the colon after {file name:

Any thoughts on how I can resolve would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My Outlook unexpectedly quit and Apple advised me to do a **** reset. This got my Outlook back working but I had lost all data after Nov 2012. I backup through time machine to an external hard drive but was not able to recover the data. Yesterday I opened Outlook and starting adding back data. Today when I opened Outlook it reloaded all of the messages that I had received since the reset and all of the data I had entered (contacts, signatures, etc.) are gone. It appears that I have two Outlooks as the one today was the one I had used the first day after the reset?

Hello, I have 2 email accounts in my Outlook 2011 for Mac.  I invoked an "Office" update (have no idea which one it was) to take place about a week ago & now my replies are messed up.  Well, it's really two issues with REPLY being the main one.  It seems as though the DEFAULT email overrides everything...even logic.

  1. An email comes to the non-default account, I click reply & the default account is automatically populated, as opposed to the account where the original email was sent.  This makes no logical sense, as the sender is likely expecting a reply from the account to which their original message was sent PLUS I want to reply to the sent account.
  2. When creating a new email with the account from which I want to send the email selected, the default account is automatically populated.  I would think that if either email account is highlighted and I click on "E-mail" that the new email's "from" would be populated from that account, but that is not the case.

Any help in resolving this issue (especially the first one) would be most appreciated.  I shouldn't have to double-check email addresses for every email I send.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have the following problem.
I have IMAP mail server postfix -maximum message size is set to 37MB . From any computer I can send messages with up to such a size but not with the MacBook Pro (software version 10.10.3 ) with Outlook 2011 for Mac . If I try to send a message larger than 4 MB I get an error code -3210 . No visible errors in the server log .

Please help

Mirek

I am having a problem with Outlook, specifically my sent file folder.  Recently, when I open (double click) some sent emails the following fields are all editable: To, From, Subject and Attachment.  These fields are not greyed out and I have confirmed that the em was received by all recipients.  The send button is also enabled and appears similar to BEFORE you send.

Any idea as to what could be causing this?

Thank you!

I try to use Outlook in my just upgrade MBP to El Capitan and Outlook don't work for more of 2 minutes.

Beach ball show up and the only way to stop the software is using Force to Quit.

Is the only application with problems.

Mac Outlook 2011 Version 14.5.2

I recently updated my iMac to OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.4.  Since that time my Outlook has been "dumping" all emails more than three days old without any input from me.  The lost emails are not in the deleted items folder, they are just gone...  I have not reverted to the previous OS X version of Yosemite but I have reset all of my Outlook settings to default without effect.  Finally, I am using iCloud (20Gig) for storage.

Questions - (1) Are there known incompatibilities between Mac Outlook 2011 Version 14.5.2 and Yosemite 10.10.4?

(2) Is there a setting in Outlook that limits the time incoming emails can be stored?

Using Office Mac Home & Business - outlook crashed and screen appeared asking me for Product Key. Inserted as requested but being told Product Key is not valid? Other Office programs such as Word still work ok - just Outlook not doing
I changed my MacBook Air. I use Outlook 2011 with an Exchange account of my company and a personal IMAP account. I have several local folders where I store old emails.

To migrate, I removed both the Exchange and IMAP accounts from the old computer. So Outlook only has the local folders with he archived emails.

I exit Outlook and copy the "Office 2011 Identities" directory to and external drive. The archived emails are quite a lot, so the size of the directory is almost 40GB.

On the new computer, I have already installed Outlook 2011 and updated it. So I replace the "Office 2011 Identities" folder with the one from the old computer. Then, before opening Outlook, I rebuild the Identity with the Microsoft Database Utility. It takes a while since the Identity is 40GB in size.

I then open Outlook just to find the archived folders are not there. I have repeated the procedure with little twists here and there but have been unable to make it work.

Anyone has any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
