(I've tried reviewing similar posts but I can't find anyone with the exact same issue. And I really am fed up with hotmail.

It truly should not be this hard to set up a mac mail account when all others work so seamlessly.)

In trying to reset my hotmail account up (which worked for years but finally would not at any cost. I was advised to delete and reset it)

I have followed all the prompts, step by step video about the incoming and outgoing servers. I've used 993 as the port and SSL. It still won't take. I've also tried other combinations of this but it still won't take.

It continues to announce 'more information needed' but not what, or where or how to....

Please can someone start from the very beginning and list these step by step, anticipating all the possible problems we may run into.

Would be ever so grateful,

Thanks.

I have been using Entourage in Office 2008 for personal emails and Outlook in Office 2011 for business.  I attempted to create a new Identity in Outlook for my personal email.  Opened Outlook > tools > accounts > +new account with the email address > import data from old Entourage account.

Outlook imported all of the data into one combined account.  Then Users > Documents > Microsoft User Data > Office 2011 Identities > Main Account is the only account listed.  Previously, if I created a new account in Entourage it would automatically create a different user in Identities.

I have not been able to have Outlook bifurcate the data from the business and personal accounts.  Previously, When I opened Entourage that had separate entities, a prompt would appear that gave me the option to select a specific account.  Does Entourage not have that option?

Should I create a new folder in Users > Documents > Microsoft User Data > Office 2011 Identities and name it the personal account?

This was easy with Entourage but not so with Outlook.

Thanks very much if you have any ideas to resolve this issue.

When I right-click on any file outside of Outlook I get the context menu and have the option of 'Open With'.  However, when I right-click on an attachment in Outlook for Mac, I get a context menu but 'Open With' is missing.  How do I add this?

i needed to restore my back up from Time Machine on my Mac Book Pro. After that its not allowing me to migrate my earlier emails. Everytime I tried its suggesting Database can not be rebuilt -18000. I tried different thing, deleting identity and then copying recommended folders , upgrading to current version , but nothing worked for me so far?

Any help?

In Outlook on Windows, I can change the view for contacts to Business Cards or Sort by "File As", but in Outlook in Mac, there are various sort by options, but none of them is by "file as." I have accumulated thousands of contacts over the years and they work perfectly in Outlook for Windows and even synchronise perfectly with an iPhone or iPad but in the Outlook for Mac, it is impossible to find a contact other than by searching. To do a search you have to remember the details in the first place, whereas in Windows, you can go to the alphabet letter and scroll through the contacts. The contacts views in Outlook for Mac are a total mess and it is impossible to find anyone unless you do a search. The contacts are arranged in the most haphazard way and in different colours. There is no grouping option so even arranging by category throws up every contact with the only category recognition being the colour.

Is there any way that Outlook for Mac can be changed to make the contacts look more like Outlook in Windows, clear and readable?

I've got an odd problem whilst trying to configure a corporate (in-house, non-Office 365) Exchange mailbox with the Outlook for Mac 2011 client (latest update applied) on a Mac computer running OSX Yosemite 10.10.4.

When I go through the process of adding the Exchange account with the email address, Method (User Name & Password), User Name (DomainUser ID), and password I see the warning below:

Outlook for Mac cannot add this type of account. To access your email, open your browser, sign in to Office365 and use the Outlook Web App.

This is an in-house Exchange system so I'm not sure why it's thinking it's an Office 365 account unless this is just a generic message. I can login using the same address and password via Outlook Web App so I'm confident the password is correct.

What's odd is that I have successfully set up two or three other Exchange accounts from the same system on this client with no such problem. It only seems to be a problem with this one Exchange account. There was a special character (#) at the end of the user's password but we got them to change it, making sure there are no special characters.

Has anyone seen this before? I don't think it's a problem with the Outlook client but thought I'd try here before going to the Exchange forums.

Thanks

Hi, I would like to receive help. I had trouble with my Database file of outlook 2011 for mac, and after 3 weeks and with the help of a lot of forum I finally rescue muy data completelly. Now I want to export all my mails from outlook 2011 (mac) to a .olm file, but it's no possible to get the complete folders. The export process is correct. I don't have any error and I finally see the "done" after the process. But, when I see the file in the converted mbox program, I only see a part of all my data, so the export was incomplete.

Hope someone can help me because I have tried a lot of things during 2 weeks and I didn't find the solution.

Thanks
