I downloaded and installed Windows 8.1 on top of Windows 8. Immediately I was no longer able to open any of my skydrive files from windows explorer although the folder system and files are visible. Attempting to open one results in the error message: "An unexpected file is preventing you from copying the file [though I am trying to open not copy] error code: 0x80070490 element not found.  The files still exist and can be accessed from skydrive.com, but I cannot get at them from windows.  I spent 2 hours with one Microsoft support person where we established that windows 8.1 was irrevocably installed (no restore point). He then said it was an Office problem and passed me to the Office section. In passing, it cannot be an Office problem because PDF and JPEG files re affected too. The Office person had no luck, told me it was a Skydrive problem and promptly dumped the session.

From Skydrive.live the affected laptop is not accessible. In trying to follow the change settings to "allow skydrive to access the laptop" I find there isn't a skydrive icon on the toolbar to access the settings. Any ideas anyone?

Hi,

Our company uses google apps for businesses which allows us to use a custom domain for email addresses.
Few of us are using outlook.com and just added our company's gmail account to our outlook.com account (as send only address).

Lately, once a week or so, whenever we compose new emails in outlook.com and put ANY of the company's email addresses in, the email address has a red rectangle around it and hovering over it says "The address may not be valid".

It doesn't matter what we try - restart everything, refresh, restart our modems/routers, move the computers between the home/office etc. - outlook.com still complains about the addresses.
If we ignore the warning and send the emails, it just bounces back (even though it works just fine when sending the emails through gmail.com).
Also note that all the emails bounce even when we send them on our windows phone devices (outlook again).

When that happens we need to switch back to gmail (which sucks) until the problem is gone.
It usually takes about 24 hours until the situation gets back to normal.

The addresses are definitely valid, as we keep using them outside outlook.com when the problem occurs.
I even tried sending an email from my company's email to the same email and it bounces. It's like outlook can't send to that domain at that point no matter who the sender is.

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks,
Yudi

need to find my contacts and emails
need to find my contacts and emails

Hey folks,

I bought a new Surface Pro 2 and after performing all the system and app updated decided to make a few large folders (10,000+ document) available offline. After a bit of time everything was downloaded locally and the folder into eh SkyDrive app shows the offline icon as you would expect but in the top right corner of the app it still says "Downloading 292 items...". I messed around with it for days, turning the folder to online only and then back again to offline, deleted the files and then adding them back in. After awhile I ended up causing an issue where it was trying to upload a file that no longer existed. I then noticed a hardware defect in my Surface Pro 2 and had to exchange it at the local Microsoft store. I first thought good a nice fresh start should solve all my problems, unfortunately that is not the case. I made the same folder available offline and now it says "Downloading 283 items...". When I look at the details all the items say completed and the folder has the correct offline icon but for some reason the SkyDrive app just want clear them out of the processing queue.

Does anyone know how I can clear the queue myself or some other way to solve this problem?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken
