I can send but not receive mail windows 7 checked all settings uninstalled and get a box asking for email and password but will not accept it  please can you help

Hey all.

So today my girlfriend tried going in to her Hotmail account and was unable to login.  She never logs out so she was shocked to sign back in but after putting in her password it was incorect.  She told me she was unable to reset her password.  She then proceeded to call for help.she was told that an ip address not even in our country was using it last and to reset her password and to lock her ip address to her account for 2 years cost almost $200.  I was at work when this happened and am not sure what messages she recieved but if anyone has any experience with this or heard of it id like to know.  It sounded like a scam to me and now im worried as she paid with cc.  However she now has acess to her account which tells me something was fixed.  However the price seems igh.  Thank you all.

My W7 email no longer functions,  I get popup:  "Windows live mail incompatible, may be installed improperly/disk full/ out of memory/ error Ox80041161"  I havent updated O.S nor changed any programs, all system maintenance perfomed, everything seems OK. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thank you kindly.

Just finally did the free upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7.  I had been using Windows Live Email 2012 and it worked fine in Windows 7.  Now in Windows 10 it seems to connect fine and pulls email down from my Comcast server, but anytime I try to Reply to, or Forward, or create a new email, I get the same error message:

I did not knowingly change any account settings and looking at them seems like they are the same as they have always been.  Any help that will maintain all my existing files and folder structure would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I use windows live mail and can't stop junk mail. It also comes from UE. When junk arrives it goes straight to my in box and nothing is diverted to my junk folder and there email address is changed each time, Have tried blocking, no luck there and have my option set at high trying to control this junk but they keep coming. If you have a solution please don't get to technical as I am not very tech savy. None of us old farts are. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Kaid

I can open WLM (recently set up in Windows 8.1) once and it works OK, but when I try to re-open it I get the box stating it is "...sending mail using Windows Live Mail" and "Not connected" and nothing else opens....

On occasions I can go into Task Manager and note that WLM has not  shut down so I can end the task and get it to open again.....what is going on? I tried to run Repair in the Programmes but it made no difference...

Any help gratefully received!! If I delete "Windows Essentials" and reload it, do I lose all my contacts, settings, emails etc???

Several times I have had problems with Windows Live Mail 2011 automatically routing mail that I wanted to receive to "junk mail".

In going through settings I couldn't find how to access and change parameters for selection.

Most of the mail that was routed automatically to junk was common cellphone mail servers such as gmail.

But today I saw an email with an attached proposal on my cellphone (cellphone is setup for IMAP to leave emails on server). Then when I returned home to my desktop, to download and print the MS Word proposal ; I couldn't find it.

Looking further I found it in "junk mail" on my desktop computer. The email with proposal was from an address that was a companyname.com. I can't think of any reason it was automatically routed to "junk mail".

I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP ANYONE CAN GIVE ME.  I HAVE TRIED ALL OTHER SUGGESTIONS.  THEY DIDN'T WORK.
I have Windows Live Mail 2012 installed on my PC and my provider's email account on my iPad.  Up until recently my PC was the primary receiver.   If I opened new emails on my PC, they would not download onto my iPad as they had already been opened on my PC.  If I hadn't used my PC for a while, i.e. away from home for a period, all emails would download to the iPad but when I got home they would also be on the PC.  They would only download onto the iPad if they had not been accessed on the PC. Since I have upgraded to a new PC with Windows 10 and set up Windows Live Mail on it, all my emails download to both.  Neither is the primary receiver. I now have to delete the same emails twice!!   How do I make the PC the primary receiver, just like it used to be.
