When I ordered my last computer and the Dell rep told me VISTA was the way to go..., "...it will eventually take over everything!" He was right! It did! Reluctantly upgrading to Windows 7, after spending over 24hrs (total) online with MS support, even a Level 2 technician, I've ended up with NONE of my old emails or contacts. In real life, I'm a REALTOR(r) and writer, and my whole world was in the old information.
They recommended that I backup, and did, with their help, but in their 'clean install' it all disappeared. Even though they promised it would not. I tried calling back that 'Level 2' technician and he won't respond. They consider the case closed.
I consider it desperate.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
- I'd like to know why my calendar alerts come at 11:43 pm prior to the day of the event (while I'm asleep) instead of the 2 days as I have checked on each of my events. It use to come promptly 2 days prior, but that hasn't happened for quite some time.
Hi
I am on Windows 7 and up until this week my livemail was working fine. It is downloading messages but when I try to open them it keeps coming up with the same message. Also my contacts are blank. Can you please advise. I have tried running the repair tool this has not worked.
The Outlook account has a problem. When I highlight an email in the Inbox and press Delete, nothing happens. If I right-click and choose Delete, nothing happens. I can drag the mail to the Deleted items folder. The other accounts work fine. This behaviour is consistent on a couple of PCs that I have tried so it seems to be a property of the email account itself.
I have refreshed my Windows Live programs. I've deleted and reinstated the account in Windows Live Mail. The problem remains.
I am using Windows Live Mail Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205).
I have a number of storage folders, each containing emails I saved there, having moved them from my "Inbox".
When I endeavor to open any of those emails, the following message appears:
The contents of this message cannot be found. "
Just now, I created a new 'test' storage file and moved a new email (we'll call it 'Email A') from my Inbox to that test folder. When I then tried to open Email A, what appears is not Email A, but, instead, an email from the storage folder immediately below the 'test' storage folder. Needless to say, when I try to open emails in that storage folder immediately below the 'test' storage folder, I get 'message cannot be found", even though the very email I'm looking for showed up in the test storage folder (where it should not have been).
It seems that the stored emails are SOMEWHERE on my hard drive, but are no longer synched (if that's the right word) properly with the storage folders.
I am NOT computer-savvy. I've read some of the answers to the same question, but frankly, they were over my head.
Although I was able to find the version of Live Mail I'm using and the build number, that's about the limit of my skill.
So, when you respond, please do not be reluctant to dummy it down for me.
Thank you.
