Hi, I tried to send email to a friend and received the following message. I cleared the email from my outbox and tried to send a message to myself and now continuously receive this same message. I use a public library as my email service provider. I even tried closing down the Windows Live Mail and reopened it, but only receive this message. Can you please help me? The Port 465 is the correct port for my outgoing mail, so nothing is wrong with the configuration. Thank you so much.
The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***', please contact your email service provider.

I'm no great expert, but from time to time I try to help my brother-in-law (nice guy but with the technical expertise of a fencepost). He is a real old-timer, running Windows Mail (not Windows Live Mail) on a Vista PC. He doesn't always receive emails that I (and reportedly some others) send to him, and I've been unable to work out why. For example, I answer his emails to me using 'Reply' which I assume guarantees that there is no error in his address; and I don't receive any 'failure to deliver' feedback messages, except his verbal ones! So far as I know, he has no problem with sending emails.
Rather than try to tinker with his creaking email client I thought it might be better to move him to Outlook in the hope of removing this baffling symptom. However, when I started down that route I was immediately asked for (his) Microsoft account password, which produced a new problem; he vehemently denies having any such thing. Now I suspect he must have set up an account somewhere along the way, possibly years ago, but I'm afraid he just doesn't recognise the question.
So there seem to be 2 possible ways I can help him.
Hi,
I have just downloaded your WL update to 12 from WL11, it will now not send messages, they are stuck in the Outbox, yes, I have tried all the above without fix, see error below:
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. The sender's email address was '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***'.

I tried to send email to myself, obviously there should not be any issue with this, I can send emails on my smart phone also, so definitely not email adress.
Please help.

I had a Windows Essentials update on Friday, 21/2/2014, since then I can't success my mails in storage folders, over 1000+ mails dating back over 10 years, I can see the folder, see the message header, but can't access the body of the message, when I click on it I get the following pop up box
"A problem occurred while trying to open this message"
"A problem has occurred, please try again"
My inbox is OK, as is my sent items folder, just the storage folders.
I'm running Win 8
Please help!
thanks
Nick
I use Windows Live Mail. I have a Gmail account. I have received an e-mail that has the subject line “Documents Attached” I use Windows 7. I believe this e-mail is infected. Whenever I delete it and then empty the trash folder it comes back. The person is on my blocked list and the e-mail comes to the spam folder, which is where it re-appears after being deleted from the trash folder.
