I am having the same problem Suddenly I am unable to receive email one MSN account with the error 0X800488EB.. It only affects one of three of my msn accounts. I have done everything that has been suggested.  I did a Windows update on Win 7, did a repair of Win Live Mail. No good.  Then deleted 2011 and replaced with 2012 Window live mail and still the same results. I was able to add this account to my Surface RT. I haven't checked the other computers on the network, but I suspect they will not have the problem. What is up?  How do you get to someone at MSN to fix this in their end? I have read other treads that a tech said it was  their problem and fixed it on their end.

For those who are experiencing this error and sync probs I tried this suggestion from somebody else and it is working:

To fix this issue you will need to reconfigure your account.

 

 

1. To re-configure your account –  Click the Accounts Tab and Click the + symbol with the @ sign.

 

2. Type your e-mail address, password and display name.

 

3. Place a check on “Manually Configure  Server Settings

 

4. Under “Incoming Server Information” select “IMAP” as server type.

 

5. In the Server Address field, type imap-mail.outlook.com and in port type 993

 

6. Place a check on “Requires a secure connection SSL

 

7. Under “Outgoing Server Information” type smtp-mail.outlook.com as server address and in port type 587

 

8. Place a check on “Requires a secure connection SSL” and “Requires Authentication

 

9. Click Next. And you’re done, you should now see a new account added in the left pane of your Windows Live Mail.

 

10. If you wish to move messages from the previously added account, you can drag messages and drop them to the appropriate folders.

 

11. Your messages should still all be re-downloaded, except for Sent Messages which you can drag and drop.

 

12. After your account is setup, you can remove the previous account by right clicking on it and selecting “Remove Account

The only thing I didn't do was remove the old account because Microsoft may fix that eventually.  I'll give them a couple more days on that one.

I am receiving the following error message on my Live Mail account through Windows Live Mail 2011:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Msn (turbo.dog) account.

Subject 'Emailing: d46771ef37f303823d25706d146af713kk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

I have tried the steps involving Windows Updates as well as the Live Essentials Repair as previously posted in other forums/discussions and the issue persists.

This has been going on for days now. Is Microsoft ever going to get around to fixing this problem?

Its obvious that other users are experiencing this issue and I'm sure would love to have it resolved.

I  am unable to log into my msn account in live mail. The error code is Ox800488EB. I am running Windows VISTA Home Premium version. Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308)Service Pack 2. The account has been inoperable since about 4:30 yesterday the 8th. Does anyone know of a fix for this. I am out of ideas I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING MENTIONED BY THE COMMUNITY AS TO FIND A FIX. I have lost all my saved mail folders with no hope of recovery.  

Frequently I backup Contacts (& Messages). Recently I needed to do a Restore. All worked fine - EXCEPT in the Contacts List there were no Categories.

It is a lot of work creating Categories. Is there some way to Backup Categories along with Contacts?

Tried to do a windows live repair but no good....then I removed the email account and re-added it and

am currently seeing the following--Windows live mail is synchronizing this account check back in a few minutes

to read your messages.  It's been way past a few minutes and nothing is happening.  Strange my other desktop is configured

the same way and windows live mail is working ok on that pc.  Any help?

All my mails do not come into my Live mail. Gives me error continuously;

Tried everything I know how to do, then had my remote computer tech support try to fix and nothing! All my other MSN accounts work just fine. this is only happening in Windows Live Essentials 2012 and Outlook 2007.  I can get emails on my cell phone, and by signing in directly to live. com. This started happening after I had to change my password due to a hacker sending bogus emails to all of my contacts. 

Already tried to repair Windows Live, says it fixed but still nothing. Set my clock back asnd it let me get my emails and then set back to correct time, it worked for a short while then went right back to giving me this error code. Any help on how to fix would be appreciated.
