I am having the exact same issue.  Windows live mail is asking for a password.  I get the message that I cannot receive email on server.  Can someone please help me?  I really need to send an email and get my mail.  I am so frustrated.

Thanks,

sharon

Hi Guys,

I cannot access my account after trying to remove it as a primary alias. When I tried adding it again, I get error message "I cannot add account that is part of reserved domain". I really need my account back as it is my professional account

Kind regards,

Hi,

Issue:

"Windows Live Mail could not be started. It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory. (0x80041161)"

I understand that this problem had been posted before, however I have tried and gone through a couple of solutions but it doesn't seem to work (see below for solutions that were unsuccessful). It was working perfectly fine the day before and this just happened.

Appreciate any help or suggestions! Thank you!

I've tried the following series of solutions but none seem to work:

1. services.msc --> Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant --> Automatic

Unable to start the service --> error message: Windows could not start Windows Live Sign-In Assistant on Local computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

2. Programs --> Windows Live Essentials 2011 --> Double Click

No response when double clicked.

3. Regedit --> Windows Live Mail registry --> Exported back up, deleted existing and restart WLM

Same error message --> WLM could not be started......

4. Ran MS Security Essentials --> no threats found

5. Re-install WLM from microsoft website --> wlsestup-web.exe

Error message "C:\Windows\system32\wer.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support"

Many thanks,

Daphne

When I recently tried to sign in to my email it says that someone might be trying to access my account it then asks me to enter the last 4 digits of my mobile. However whenever I type them in I get a message saying that the service is currently unavailable and to try again later. It has been saying this for about 3 days. I have tried to do this on multiple browsers an computers. I need help resolving this it is quite urgent as there is important info on my email.

Using Windows Live I send / respond to emails through sympatico.ca.  Some of my emails are not received by my customers.  However they show me as sent and I do not receive a bounce back to tell they are not being delivered!  Any thoughts?

Original title: Email - Windows Live

Windows Live Mail has recently stopped sending e-mails, leaving them in the Outbox. I receive the following error message every time.

An unknown error has occurred.

Subject 'Test'
Server: 'smtp.ox.ac.uk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0B
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): Yes

Following advice I have found elsewhere, I have tried:

  • changing the outgoing port from 25 to 465
  • changing the outgoing port from 25 to 587
  • repairing Windows Live Mail
  • removing and the reinstalling my account
  • checking that the "my server requires authentication" box is ticked

All this has been to no avail.

Any further suggestions much appreciated.

Please see error message below:

Unable to send or receive messages for the *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] (#MBR1212) Incorrect username or password.
Server: 'inbound.att.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes

The passwords are indeed correct and have also been reset but I get the message for both inbound and outbound server.  The account, to the best of my knowledge, is not set up for the 2-step verification and the source is a trusted device (desktop) and designated as such.  I have had this issue since moving and setting up ATT U-verse but I am still able to receive and send mail on mobile devices and through Yahoo! and Outlook applications but when I try to add my account to WLM from those sites the same thing happens.  Can someone provide me with some input to try to troubleshoot?

Thanks
