I'm trying to set up access to OWA via Windows Live 2012. The settings I am supposed to use in Windows Live Mail according to the OWA help is:

IMAP setting

Server name: outlook.office365.com
Port: 993
Encryption method: SSL

SMTP setting
Server name: smtp.office365.com
Port: 587
Encryption method: TLS

The problem is, Windows Live Mail 2012 only has the option for SSL. You get the following error:

The server does not support a SSL connection.
Subject 'test'
Server Error: 250
Server Response: 250 XXXXXXXB
Server: 'smtp.office365.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC7D
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes

I have searched the web, this forum etc. and not a single useful answer that works has been suggested so far to allow emails to be set from Windows Live 2012 via OWA with the required TLS encryption method.

So many have logged the same issue and it seems Microsoft is just playing deaf and dumb...

Windows Mail is not supported on Windows 7.

Please generate the error again, and this time click on the error message to select it, then use right-click to copy it and paste it into your reply here. It will give clues towards explaining the problem, including telling us what program you're using.

I started having the same problem as mentioned above with my Windows Live mail on my Windows 7 computer - I receive messages, but it gives me the following error message when I try to send or reply to a message on the computer:

An unknown error has occurred.

Subject 'Re: '
Server Error: 554
Server Response: 554 ERROR: Mail Refused - See http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=174.111.236.170
Server: 'webmail.triad.rr.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC6F
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No

Any suggestions?

Kathy

I have "minimize to tray" selected in Windows Live Mail, and it properly goes to the tray when minimized. The problem: when I open any kind of full screen application (eg. games), WLM seems to 'un-tray' itself, and either become visible or become minimized to the taskbar instead of the tray.

This becomes irritating when I have to alt+tab out of the game to check something online, because WLM is now visible as a 'window' in alt+tab and gets in the way.

If anyone can help me resolve this issue with genuine, helpful answers, I'd appreciate it.

Anyone know how I can keep a draft email after I have hit send ?

I need to send the same email to multiple (over 50) recipients;

each time I want the same text in the email and the same basic 5 attachments BUT

in addition one personal attachment aswell (different for each of the recipients).

So I want to keep the one draft and keep reusing it.

Any suggestions ?

I have AT&T Yahoo Mail. Always have. Never changed it. Don't want to. Why does Windows Live Mail keep popping up out of the blue? To make life easy for me I have tried to register an account but it never accepts my input. I want to get rid of it but understand I have to have it in order to do that. Nothing seems to work, hence my frustration. Plus this help scenario gives me the sh**s because I can't talk to anyone & typing this stuff just gets old. To reiterate, I WANT TO GET RID OF YOU. I don't want Windows Live whenever I try to link to a website, I dont want to use it to email, I don't want to see the mail box, just get it out of my M/c.

Please Microsoft, stop trying to control the world for God's sake!

I have two email accounts that are not active, and I can move them to the bottom of the folder list,  but each time I close and reopen WLM they come back to the top.
I drive all over the country and in some areas live mail can't connect to the server, same problem on my nokia windows phone, the next day I could be in another state and not have any problems. Is this a problem only with certain areas and servers?
I recently bought a new computer, with a Windows 8.1 operating system.  I installed Wis Live Mail.  I have not been getting all of my e-mails--there are always a few missing.  As a result, I am still using my old computer, which has Windows Mail on it, which works fine.  I have e-mailed Microsoft, worked online with a Microsoft Technician, spoken to them on the phone--nothing works.  Any help?  Thanks.

All of a sudden my newsletters are listed as SPAM and cannot be delivered.  About 150 people receive these newsletters.  I have broken down the list to 5 contacts list - but this did not help.

Carol. I've move your post to the Email and Communications category where you have a better chance of resolving your issue.
