I have Windows 8.1 on my PC. I have a windows phone Lumia 635. I have a linked inbox on the phone. E-mail messages appear on my phone but disappear from the PC.

As a test, I forwarded a message from the phone to the same account (@msn.com). the message briefly appeared in the inbox on the PC and then disappeared as if deleted. The messages do not then appear in any other folder.

The problem only seems to be with the PC; messages remain visible (for a time, at least) on my phone and they can also be seen when accessing my e-mail account from a laptop. However, my PC is my main device and I want to be able to use it for most e-mail communication.

Windows 8.1 (OEM)

My email server is POP only. I have been using Thunderbird for email, but it hangs up quite a bit.

My ISP does not offer IMAP, so want to keep my POP email, so have downloaded Windows Essentials/Live Mail 2012. WLM receives ok, but will not send. WLM Status Bar shows ‘Connecting…’ for several minutes and then shows ‘!Error’.

As far as I can tell, I have the same account properties and settings (ports, checked boxes, login info, etc.) in WLM as I do in Thunderbird. And the settings are actually the same as on my old Vista machine using WLM which sent fine. Incoming mail is set to port 110; outgoing mail port is 587. Box is checked for ‘Outgoing Mail Server’| My server requires authentication’. I have tried a variety of other port numbers & checked boxes, but no joy.  I have radio button checked for ‘Log on using clear text authentication’.  My antivirus is native Windows Defender.

Any clues will be appreciated.

In follow up to my enquiry regarding the editing of contacts in the send to box--

Cesar & iFiredog responded

The problem exists when  the- send to box -has a number of contacts listed, you send your message only to be advised shortly thereafter the message has not been sent due to an error in one or more of the contact addresses. you then try editing the incorrect address with out any success, it will not allow any changes to the original listings.Hope this outlines the problem sufficiently. Any cures available??

I accidently deleted my windows live account. I created a new account and emails are being loaded from the server...that's okay. What I need help with is trying to recover the emails that were in folders on my computer itself. This includes my sent folder and others set up for different subject matter. How can I recover these emails?

I'm trying to remove and reinstall WLM because I'm having problems with it.  I went through this procedure, which I found on this board:

Uninstall Windows Essentials.

Delete the following folders:
- C:Program Files(x86)Windows Live
- C:Program Files(x86)Common FilesWindows Live (was not on my computer so I could not delete)

I  could not delete this folder as it was not on my computer:  C:Program Files(x86)Common FilesWindows Live

I did see a folder:  - C:Program FilesCommon FilesWindows Mail but I was unable to delete that one (it requires some sort of administrator level which I don't have)

I downloaded Windows Essentials from this link:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials-other#essentials=overviewother

I only installed Mail, not all the other programs.

I did get a confirmation message after uninstalling it and reinstalling it that both things had happened successfully.  However, once I opened WLM, all the emails that were previously in my storage folders are still there.  So, somehow, I don't think I actually removed WLM and reinstalled it.  :-(

I am using Windows 7 Pro with Service Pack 1.  Anyone have a clue how to get a CLEAN install of WLM?

Hello,

I need help with my windows live mail. I run it to operate my hotmail account (outlook). It used to work perfectly well. But since the last few weeks, I can't send any e-mail. I have tried to change my SMTP port from 25 to 587 (and even tried my luck with 465). But none works. I also change my SSL settings in my internet explorer as posted in several forums in this site (clicking SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0), but still no luck. I wonder what's wrong. It used to work well.

The message is as followed:

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'astaga'
Server: 'smtp-mail.outlook.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060

Thanks!

I have 2 email accounts on Windows Live.  Is there a way to sync my folders from one account to another?

This email which I have provided the web link for will not open up.

This is the email that is sent to me in Windows Live Mail and it stops responding.  I can open it find in Gmail just fine.

BTW I have already tried running the repair for Windows Essentials.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Gmail account. Header download for the 'resume' folder did not complete. Could not select 'resume' on the IMAP server. Try updating the folder list and then try again.

So I'm having this weird issue with a friends email account. They thought it was an issue with the computer so they asked me to look at it.

Using WLM to access 3 email accounts 2 @verizon and 1 @msn.com.

Everything was working fine up till about 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden the msn account could not log on anymore via WLM.

I have changed the password and can log in to Outlook.com using this password, but still am being told it is incorrect by WLM.

I added the account again using POP3 settings and then again with automatically provided  HTML settings. Nothing I try works.

I cannot figure out what is wrong.

Both Verizon accounts work fine and I added MY @live.com account and it works fine.

I even DL'd Thunderbird and the @msn account does not work their either.

Has something changed recently that would cause a security block on mail clients for @msn.com accounts?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Perplexed!!
