My ISP had a problem a few months ago that caused me to receive thousands of duplicate emails. Now I have over 33,000 messages and nothing that I do deletes them all. If I try Ctrl A and then hit delete, I get an "unknown error has occurred". I've even tried putting a weight on the delete key and even that eventually throws up an error. How do I delete all of these emails in this loaded inbox?

I have to say ¡Firedog seems to be the only person with an explanation for this problem. I have also started having the same issue reported for Windows Live Mail 2012 by Colenbrander, in that emails received from a specific sender (Skype Customer Service) have an invisible message body. I also have IE 11 on a Windows 7 64 bit system. Windows Live Mail 2011  (Build 15.4.3555.0308), will not display anything in the message body for emails sent from Skype Customer Service, of all things. Since Microsoft now owns Skype, this is particularly troubling. I can read the emails on my android phone, and on Outlook 2007, but my default client is Windows Live Mail. If I reply to the blank message, the text becomes visible. If I go to options and select "Read all messages in plain text", it becomes visible. This behavior is a pain, and is the exact same thing reported in the prior question. I can see I am not the only person experiencing the issue, but it also seems that nothing has been posted as a solution. If it's the result of XML markup handling by Windows Live Mail and it's messages from Skype doing it, shouldn't Microsoft be able to provide a fix? How about changing the problematic XML generated by the Skype system and use something that works in their email client? I appreciate ¡Firedog for his thoughtful explanations. I jumped that thread a bit, but I would really like a solution to be posted that doesn't result in a total rebuild of either my OS or email client when it's a self-induced problem with two Microsoft products. I am following up my jump with this question. Is there a solution that corrects the behavior without resorting to reading all emails in plain text or blindly replying to blank message bodies?

Thanks,

Several months ago about 400 email messages disappeared from my system ( Windows 8.1) As this is a new computer, I returned it back to the store and the attendant clicked on Recovery and all of them returned.

Now it has happened again and I cannot recover the previous ones that disappeared, plus new ones from my in box.

I have tried some of the suggestions you have already made, with no luck.

What can I do.......many of these emails contained photos.

When I download pictures from windows mail live it automatically goes to the One Drive folder, how can I change this for it to go to my pictures folder instead?
How do I get my sent messages or forwarded messages to show up in the Sent Items folder?
Split from this thread.

I am having the same issue. I don't need my email to synch with the calendar. Would disabling the calendar help? If so, how do I do that?

Thanks!

I keep getting the Win Live Mail has stopped working after re-installing windows essential twice and running all the windows updates.

I have tried uninstalling the KB 2670838 update but am still getting the same problem.

I have also gone into ctrl panel and tried to repair and windows live continues to state it has stopped working.

I have tried  the cmd sfc /scannow and it continues to not work.

Any answers?

I've used contacts for years under windows LiveMail.

All of a sudden, for some unknown reason, when I try to add a new contact (or edit an existing one) and save it, it seems to save OK, but when I call it up to look at it, at the top of the window it has an error message saying "! Contact information could not be saved. Check your contact information and try again".

Needless to say, I've tried many times in many ways - with simple test contacts (name only) and still the same problem.

I've deleted the contact and tried again - no luck.

I have no problem adding contacts on my iPhone or Surface tablet, but they don't sync with my laptop like they used to.

What the heck is happening here all of a sudden??

Dave

When I paste an url from a feed into WLM (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/fooc, or http://theconversation.com/uk/feeds) , WLM reports that these are not valid urls.

Other RSS feeds are quite happy to accept these, and identify and subscribe to them.

What is it that WLM does not understand?
