I deleted my Live.com alias after it began sending spam to my contacts. My thought was that i would unlink it from my new outlook.com address and could help me change the settings. I discovered after deleting the alias I could not longer access my live account or any of the emails that usually get sent to that account. How do I fix this? I tried to sign up for another live account with the same alias and found that it was impossible.

Hi,

Whenever I open Windows Live Mail it puts up the Account Control box asking if I want Essentials to change the Hard drive??

This only just started after a windows update!!

How can I stop it.

If not can I get Outlook Express for Windows 8.1.

Since Windows 8.1 I have also lost the ability to right click on the desktop without a 2 - 3 minute delay??

Regards,

John

Gracias

I was using Windows Live Mail to manage a juno.com email account on a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601). I made weekly backups to an external drive with the backup program provided in Windows 7.

Following a hard drive crash of my internal drive, I followed your instructions on MS community on how to recover my email by restoring my Windows Live Mail folder from the backup drive, reinstalling and launching WLM. This gives me a virgin folder structure and my juno.com emails are nowhere to be found.

They are, however, on the backup drive as I can navigate there and see them all in their neat folders.

You need to provide clear instructions on how to restore these types of accounts.

I recently got a new computer with Windows 8.1 and I've set up all of my email accounts in Windows Mail.  All of the accounts seem to be working well except my @msn.com account.  That account only shows a few of the new emails.  I know there are more as I can see them on my phone and on my older computer running Windows Live Mail on Windows 7.  I can't figure out any sort of pattern of the emails that show and the ones that don't.  It seems like some setting must be off but I can't figure out what.  Any thoughts?

Just recently I have received 3 different emails that, when I attempt to open them, cause WLM to shut down.  If I attempt to forward them WLM shuts down.  I can forward them as an attachment, (.eml), but when I attempt to open the attachment in WLM it shuts down.

Perhaps this is just well and good, I do not know.  But my attempts to determine just why this is happening have been unsuccessful.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas, comments, or suggestions?

I do not really expect Windows to notify me if and when a solution is available.

Tom

Windows 7 Home Premium - WindowsLive Mail 2012 Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331) - IE 11

I have been using Windows Live Mail for over a year on Windows 7 PC with no issues.  All of a sudden I am not able to send emails, only receive.  This happened while I was using the email program – I made no changes to settings, didn’t download anything from internet.  I have 5 different email addresses, 4 gmail accounts and 1 hughes.net, and have the same problem with all of them.  Multiple reboots of PC have made no difference.  I work from home and it is essential I have functioning email.  Using the internet gmail server is out of the question.

The error messages I’m getting read as follows:

For the gmail accounts:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

For the hughes.net account:

Thank you for your help.

Why do I have to be connected to the internet to read "sent mails", "all mail", "trash" etc? This is ridiculous: it should be on my computer and I shouldn't have to be connected to read them.
