I upgraded to Windows 8.1 but had many incompatibility issues so chose to 'Refresh your PC without affecting your files' to go back to Windows 8.

Unfortunately, I didn’t export my emails and accounts first from Windows Live Mail. I assumed they’d be automatically saved.

Is there a way to restore my emails and accounts to Windows Live Mail?

Thanks

Recently in updating WLM , all my email folders were lost, how do I retrieve them?

I have replaced my hard drive but was previously unable to export my contacts.

I have the old drive which I have recovered my emails from.

How can I recover my contacts from my old drive.

I have it plugged in as an extra drive.

I accessed my account from home this morning and sent/received several emails.  Once I arrived at work, I checked my email and all of the emails from my inbox have gone.  Having checked further; I cannot find anything in my folders since friday 5th Dec.  I have checked my activity and there is an IP address which I don't think is mine - I have 3; work, home and mobile and based on timings I have found those.  I have since changed my password etc.  but how can I find the missing emails please-the only reason emails are in my inbox is because they need actioning!!!???

Thank you for your support

Jo

I have an issue in Windows Live mail.  Some new email messages are showing up in "Sent items" instead of "Inbox".  This only seems to happen for a few senders, for example messages from ebay.  I have not setup any mail rules.  Is there a setting that could be causing this issue?

OT:Can not send email.

I posted this question earlier but after checking more on the forum, someone stated to post the entire error message.  I downloaded Live Mail in August when I got a new computer with windows 8.1.  Everything worked fine until several weeks ago when outgoing emails stopped sending and the error below was given.  I have uninstalled Live Mail and deleted all my contacts and then reinstalled Live Mail and hand typed my contacts into the program. I still can not send emails and receive this error message.

An unknown error was returned from the SMTP server.

Subject 'test'
Server Error: 521
Server Response: 521 This system is configured to reject mail from 199.187.253.145
Server: ************
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC61

I have no idea how to fix this and am not knowledgeable with computers.  I thank you for any help.

OT: Windows Live Mail 2012, New Message Window.

When I click the "Email Message" button to create a new message, I see the "New Message" button on my taskbar, but the window itself will not display on my screen.  The same happens when I click on the New Event button when in Calendar.  I have a New Event icon on my taskbar, but the window itself does not appear.  I minimized the program, thinking the window must be behind it, but that is not the case.  I uninstalled Windows Live Essentials, and reinstalled, and still having the problem.

I must return my computer and seller has agreed to an exchange. So I can not use a Wizard or stuff like that.  I will not have the old unit to transfer from.  Again I will not have a computer to move WLM FROM.  I am however well-backed up.  I know where WLM is stored, I am well backed up and I also have a full Windows 7 back up with a full Image on a separate data only back up both on a separate hard drive.

Here are my questions:

1.  Do I really need to re-install WLM on the new computer?  Can't I just go to my most recent Windows 7 back up, then to the WLM directory and just click that as a “restore”?  Will it be restored in full to the new computer?  We use are several email addresses and I do not want to have to go through the process of setting up each individually.  (Pop this and Imap that it was a nightmare the first time.)

2.  If I can not do a Restore from Window 7 back up, not how do I (a) get and install WlM and (2) how to I move my data (several email accounts and many storage folders) to the new computer?

Please I do not want to  run down a rabbit hole or make a career out of this (I already have one). I do not want theories, guesses (maybe this, try that, or questions,  but just answers from people who know and are certain their solution it factually correct.

Thanks

OT: Building a Catagory List.

I am using Windows Live Mail 2011

One of the things I find frustrating is the "return to top" that occurs when you are trying to build a Category List.

i.e.  you can drag a name to a Category and after you do that it takes you back to the top.  Lets suppose you have 400 names in your Total List and you want to pick out 20 names for a Category.  The "return to top", takes a 5 min operation and makes it a 25 minute operation.

It would also be nice if we had first character invocation that would allow us to get back reasonably close to where we were ejected from. But no, it appears we have to use the thumb button.

Is there any way around this madness?

How do I block a sender from sending an email to me?
