i am currently using Windows Live Essentials 2011 desktop app.

i have 3 hotmail accounts and am able to log on & send and receive mail for 2 of the 3 accounts.

i, however, cannot log onto my 3rd (default) hotmail account.

logging in to my default account thru firefox is fine.   I just CANNOT log on via the desktop app.

my login id & password are definitely correct (again, they work via firefox).

when 'sending / receiving' mail for all 3 accounts, the 2 accounts say ‘completed’, but the default account says 'cancelled'.  (there is no error #).

when trying to log on with my password (which is correct) i get:  "The email address or password is incorrect".  Please try again.

why is the account not accepting a correct password?

I’ve tried changing the password in Firefox (and again, have no problem logging on in firefox), but the password is not accepted  when using the desktop app.

Fixes I tried that did not work:

- I ran the "Wlarp" fix, but still not working.

- I removed then re-added the non-working email account.

when setting up the accounts, i chose the ‘automatic’ settings which used the server url of https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/sync.aspx  (not pop3 or imap).

Fixes I tried that worked, but no longer work.  (This worked until i closed the desktop app and reopened it later in the day:

- I ran crapcleaner as well as scanned registry for issues thru crapcleaner.

any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks!

TIA

I am getting this message when I try to send e-mails:

Internet Security Warning: The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified.

The certificate's CN name does not match the passed value.

Do you want to continue using this server?

I am able to receive e-mails but not send them.

Thanks for any help.

There used to be a Windows Live Forum around here but it seems to have disappeared.

My problem is that I occasionally receive emails from friends, full of pictures that have been pasted into the message area, that want me to forward them to a larger group but my Windows Live Mail refuses to send the message as I got it.  Instead, it usually collects all the pictures out of the message area and converts them into attachments.  This completely destroys the story that the order of the pictures was trying to tell.  Often it won't send the pictures at all.

I can personally compose such a message and Window Live Mail sends it perfectly.  And it will occasionally forward a picture laden email properly.  So why does it sometimes work and other times fail, and what can I do about it?

Somebody mentioned something about SkyDrive.  I have never used SkyDrive, and don't even know what it is.

And, don't forget to tell me where the Windows Live Forum went.

fix for below issue:  as i set up for 2-step authentication, i would get emails saying “App passwords need to be updated”, but i thought this was only for tablet.  when i thought about it, i realized this is for desktop app as well.  once i used the password they sent (which didnt seem like a real password), all worked fine.

The problem began when i hit 'stop', while 'sending/receiving' messages.

I've been using groups in Microsoft Live Mail for years with no problems, so this is a first. Error message reads "The message cannot be sent. Type an email for one or more recipients in the To, Cc or Bcc box."

When I click on Windows Live Mail I just get the hourglass (spinning circle) and then nothing. I have tried several times. Have had this program for several years and this has never happened before.

Is this just a matter of shutting down and restarting, or is there something else going on?

I will access any answers through my cable provider.

Thank you.
