Some of my incoming email messages appear in the inbox and then disappear before they can be opened.

How do I get my group contacts which is on a flash drive , to copy to a new category . My old system died and I was able to recover my contacts from the back up flash drive , but it won't import the group contacts. I have not been able to move it to any contact folder, so I can't even open it to manually copy each one.  I have created a new category to put these in , but am unable to transfer them. All it wants to do is choose from the contact list of separate address.  I was using Outlook Express before being forced to go to windows live mail.

Windows 7 Professional

Windows Live Essentials 2012

All Windows Updates installed

When I add my @hotmail.com email account to my Windows Essentials Mail (WEM), using the 'automatic' settings, everything works perfectly.  The 'Sent Items' folder appears directly below Inbox, and 'Deleted Items' just below that.  Everything syncs up fine, and I can send, receive, delete and move to folders seamlessley.

When I add my wife's @live.com (the same product) email account to WEM, using the automatic settings, the Deleted Items folder is alphabetized with the D's and the Sent Items in the S's.  Neither folder syncs up properly and populates with the deleted and sent items respectively.

I logged into each account through a browser to confirm that the POP option was the same for both accounts.

I researched this problem (over three days spent now) and here are the additional steps I've taken:

- Disable all anti-virus and try.  (Nope)

- Uninstall Windows Live Essentials and re-install.  (Nope)

- A complete 'clean' uninstall from the command prompt using the wlarp.exe /cleanup:all option

- Manually configure my wife's account using IMAP settings. (This kinda worked, but sending doesn't - IDK why)  Just FYI used this info: Link

Basically, I know it's not my WEM because my @hotmail.com email works fine.  So it has to be something in my wife's @live.com account settings.  But I can't find what on-line setting to make it work seamlessly.

I was prepared to pay for Microsoft paid support to have a support session (one-on-one) on my PC.  But there is NO Microsoft support for Hotmail or Windows Live Essentials.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a computer and tablet both running Windows 8.1 and Windows Live Mail with the same email address. I imported my contacts from the computer to the tablet with no problem. Now it has duplicated the contacts on both computer and tablet. If I delete the duplicates it does it again. How do I stop this?

Message also said, "Close the program or wait for it to complete its operation, then open Windows Live Mail again."  I disconnected from the web to avoid viruses, and then shut down Norton Anti-virus and Anti-spam."  WLM still wouldn't open.  Then I left the computer on overnight and in the morning WLM opened.

I wonder if WLM wouldn't open because it was compacting?  It is set to compact every 100 times it closes.

If that is the case, could I simply disable the compacting function, since I have plenty of hard drive (SSD) space?

If that isn't the issue, what could it be?  It has happened several times, and Windows Essentials repair doesn't help.  The only solution seems to be to wait for this "operation", whatever it is, to finish.

Thanks in advance.

I have been unable to send any emails from my talktalk service provider using Windows Live Mail.  They told me to reboot my router which I did and it didn't clear the problem.  I have reset my connection using their instructions from the website ports, servers, etc and put them into windows live mail but it hasn't worked.

When I send an email from my talktalk accounts in window live mail the email goes straight into the outbox instead of sending and a copy going into the sent folder.  A box then appears asking me to verify my password for the SMTP server the box has my email address in it and a password, which I know is correct, already inserted I click ok or renter my password and click okay but nothing happens accept the box reappearing asking me to repeat myself.  It is if the server does not want my password from windows live mail.  I have tried the web based talktalk mail and it seems fine.

Help appreciated!

For months I have routinely exported my contacts to a CSV file without a problem.  This last month the CSV file only contains a portion of my contacts.  I am unable to explain why it not has decided to begin exporting only a portion.

while on our windows live email my husband noticed a communication from one of our daughters friend  titled wattapp. our daughter said she didnt need it so my husband deleted it. however instead of  just the email  being deleted we seem to have completely lost everything from our windows live account.  all emails and all folders are completely empty. i went on to windows live to get help but it did not recognise my account details.  does this mean our account has been wiped entirely and have we lost all our emails and info in our folders.
My husband has just bought a new laptop and using Windows live mail has just started receiving all my emails as well as his own. How can he stop this ? I still get my emails and his old laptop doesn't receive them.
