I think that no one here understands the problem that has happened. When I moved to Windows Vista several years ago, there was no Outlook Express to use so I could save important e-mails that were historical to my online research projects. I had to continue to use my old computer for several months until someone from Microsoft sent me an e-mail with a link to a download program called "Windows Live Mail Desktop". This allowed me to have folders called "Storage Folders" That were located on my LOCAL computer just like with Outlook Express. Not on the internet site for Windows Live Mail. I could have multiple POP mail providers that showed up in this application, and the same "Storage Folders" could be used for storage for all my e-mail addresses and providers. I eventually moved up to Windows 7 and still used the same application. I also have another computer that I put the application on, but it had changed to Microsoft Esentials. I don't usually use this computer for local storage of e-mail, but today I decided to create some local storage folders so my wife could keep e-mails that were important to her. To my surprise, this new "Windows Live Mail" doesn't have a way to create local e-mail storage folders. The only folders that can be created are online folders under your inbox. They can't be accessed from your computer unless you are online and use up storage space in your e-mail account. I have thousands of old e-mails with many folders and subfolders to help me be able to find them when I need to remember something from years back. I now know that I better not upgrade my "Windows Live Mail Desktop", and maybe I better not upgrade from Windows 7 because I might lose my research. I looked to see if I could find the older "Windows Live Mail Desktop" but couldn't find it except at a few sites that were not Microsoft. I usually try to not download from these independant sites.
I have received the following error code
Delete the photo email, create a new one, and try to send it again.
Server: 'smtp.prairieinet.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8CCC0003
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
I have contacted my ISP and they have referred me to you. I have attempted to block my Norton anti-virus which has no effect. I can receive e-mails but can not send any with or without attachments. I was using Live mail 11 but have upgraded to 12 with no effect. My out going server is SMTP set at 25 and doesn't use encription. I have a second computer set up with Windows XP, with Outlook and the same Norton antivirus, and I can send and receive e-mails.
Any suggestions? Thank you.

I too am having problems with emails not sending from my Windows Live Mail account. The error message I am getting is :
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address.
Server Error: 530
Server Response: 530 Authentication Required (VM401)
Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Not sure what I need to do to make my outgoing server require authentication.
Hope you can help.

I have a[n] similar issue which started a couple of days ago. I cannot send emails, but have no problem receiving them. My error message reads as follows:
smtp-server.roadrunner.com
WindowsLive Mail Error 0X80070057
Protocol SMTP
Port 587
Secure SSL: Yes
I called my email provider and they went all through my server settings. I was told they are as they should be. They advised me to get in touch with MS. I spoke to a support person at MS who told me that since I have Windows 7, I had to go to support.live.com. I hope you can help

If I have a Windows Live Mail tab open, and receive a mail, the title correctly updates to display "Outlook.com (1)".
If I delete this email from my linked mobile phone, the email deletes from the mailbox in my browser tab, however the title remains "Outlook.com (1)", even if I click the reload button at the top of the mailboxes; I have to refresh the page for this to update.
It's not a major bug, but can be quite annoying sometimes when you think you have an email, but it was just a spam email you deleted 30 minutes earlier

Greetings,
I apologize in advance for asking a question that may seem trivial or simple, but I am at a loss. Here is the situation. I recently got a new computer, and over Christmas my son set it up (yes, he's far more competent than I am). He networked the old computer and the new computer to facilitate the transfer of files. My email account is with frontier.com, but I use Windows Live Mail. I don't know what the WLM version is on the old computer, but my son set up the new computer with WLM Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331). The WLM contacts did not transfer correctly, so I reloaded them manually into the new WLM address book. My actual problem is that none of the sent emails got copied from the old computer to the new computer. I tried to address this myself by using the export/import options. I created a new folder on the desktop of the old computer and exported the sent emails to it. Then I used the import option on the new computer to copy the sent emails into a new WLM storage folder. It worked except for the fact that the addressees are all missing, which rather negates the point of the whole effort. All of my searching for an answer to this problem has been in vain, and I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance for your time.
Regards,
Frustrated
