windows live essentials e-mail when switching to calender, get error; problem swithing folders may be busy try later, never switches to calender, tried repairing, using live mail 2009.
When using the search facility on mail it often comes up with the search result straight away and then expands the search and puts every email up that may contain those characters. Is there ways of narrowing the search so that it includes emails with just the details you require.

Live Mail has crashed twice on a Windows 8 platform.

Live Mail is updating incoming emails on an old Vista platform but will not send outgoing emails.

On the Vista platform I have deleted and re-established my account with no success correcting the outgoing mail problem.

In addition I've lost a boatload of contacts.

This has been the most stable, reliable platform for YEARS.

What gives??

When I open my 'Windows Live email account" I keep getting a popup message "We have noticed some unusual activity in your account.Your action is needed to make sure no one else is using your account.

To continue click OK.'

If I click OK, I am taken to a web page that looks like a Microsoft page asking me to confirm my account name and password, this site looks a bit suspicious to me, and therefore I am reluctant to sign in, incase somehow someone is after my password.

Is this a proper message from Microsoft, or should I be careful and how do I remove it?

Thanks for your help.

I'm a silver-surfer and apologise straight away for my lack of technical knowledge. I have used Windows Mail for years with no problem, however a couple of days ago I was still able to receive emails but not able to send any. I got in touch with my Broadband provider who were helpful but pointed out that Windows Mail was nothing to do with them. I had a Webmail account with them, which was rarely used, but they offered to check server settings etc. Whilst checking details in the 'Tools: Internet Account box' my name was deleted by mistake, which resulted in us having to create a new account. Back in Windows Mail my account now appears to have been deleted. I have tried to 'Add' myself back into Internet accounts but it is asking for info. ( e.g. Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, and SMTP name ) which I don't have the answer to. Can anyone please help, using words of one syllable? I would be eternally grateful.

This problem has been raised by others. I cannot receive or send emails in WLM. I am continually asked for my username and password.

My wife's account works fine, so the error appears to be related to my password.

I have tried deleting my account, and restoring with a new password, as recommended in forum, but the error message is the same.

Please help!!

I am using Windows Live Mail and Windows 8.1.

It says it is trying to download 1 message.  Only about one tenth of the bar is filled in.  Nothing is budging.  I have clicked Stop, restarted WLM, and the computer and have been to my webmail to check there is nothing oversized trying to download.  Any ideas how I can fix this because at the moment if I click Send and Receive all I get is this dialogue box, still showing thte one tenth filled in progress bar.

I did visit this forum about 4 times, Nov. - Dec. 2014; always the same misery.

Check mail, close WLM. Shortly after closing, a message pops up "Recovering unused disk space" and "The folder is in use by another application".

[The only mail today was Staples-junk, McAfee is up to speed 24/7]. I was already suspicious, opened WLM, the contents of every folder accumulated between Dec. 30 [the last wholesale loss] and Jan. 17 2015 ARE TOAST, GONE again.

I was experimenting using WLM +Word Pad rich text as editor, wipe outs.

I activated Office 365 and used OUTLOOK [instead of WLM + Word Pad], wipe outs, contents periodically wiped out, so I aborted Office 365.

The craptop is ~ 8 months old, used it for 100 hours maybe?

I don't use the "Cloud " space or "One drive" [knowingly/deliberately] yet it appears, something periodically purges all mail folders.

Of course, Microsoft/Dell are out of reach, NOBODY talks to you in spite of the box still being under warranty.

Anyone, a suggestion how to avoid this software terrorism?

My Windows Live Groups wont send.  I get the message about having to post in CC or BC.   I tried that and it still did not work.  The only way I can get it to work is to delete a group/category and create a new one using the same email addresses and setting it up the same way I set up the group I had to delete.  This is crazy.  I have used this function since I have had Windows Live and it has never occurred.  Why all of a sudden am I having issues with that.  It is not only on one of my computers, but on both.  I have Windows 8.1.
