The font options in the 'send mail' window are always disabled, so I cannot use underline, bold, and font type, etc facilities while typing emails.  Help please.

I cannot send/receive emails today. I'm just getting this error message;

Unable to send or receive messages for the Jcpolishing.co (joncarter) account. The host 'mail.jcpolishing.co.uk' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

Server: 'mail.jcpolishing.co.uk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0D
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 11004

Any ideas??? I'm assuming from this message the problem is not at my end but I cannot seem to find anyone to contact about this to get it fixed.

Hi can anyone help (I am not very good with IT sorry!)

I have been using windows live mail for years without any problem but the computer started asking me to connect using password etc before it would allow the send/receive mail option to work.  The account was set up by someone else (password automatically set) and I have the details written down.  The computer has always in the past automatically checked mail without me entering details so unsure why this has changed.  Now I get this message below?? I do see this error code in other peoples post but the other details (port and protocol are different) so I don't really know where to start.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Smhharbour.co (clerk) account. The connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'mail.smhharbour.co.uk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10060

Any help much appreciated!!

Original title: Unable to send or receive messages

I have used Windows Live Mail for a long time, logged off yesterday and tried to click on today, nothing happens.

I have logged into my Microsoft Outlook account and can see the mails still in there from yesterday and earlier, and several new ones for today, these are usually configured through to Live Mail with my other email accounts,  ( I have email addresses with BT and they all usually open together in my Windows Live Mail each day)  but today I  cannot open Windows Live Mail at all.

Usually opens within a few seconds, but today, nothing happens when I click on Windows Live Mail.  Any suggestions please?

Original title: Windows Live Mail Acess.

I have Windows Live Mail 2011 configured identically on two PCs for POP3 access to an Outlook.com account.  One pc is running Windows 7, the other Windows 8.1.  The configuration works fine (can send and receive) on the Windows 7 pc.  On the Windows 8.1 pc, the setup doesn't work (can't send at all, and receives intermittently and unpredictably).

The Windows Live Mail error message on the Windows 8.1 pc is :

================================================

Unable to send or receive messages for the *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account. The connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'pop-mail.outlook.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060

================================================

The configuration on both systems is:

'Servers' tab:

 Incoming mail (POP3): pop-mail.outlook.com

 Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp-mail.outlook.com

 My server requires authentication: Checked

'Advanced' tab:

 Server Port Numbers:

  Outgoing mail (SMTP): 857

   This server requires a secure connection (SSL): Checked

  Incoming mail (POP3): 995

   This server requires a secure connection (SSL): Checked

 Leave a copy of messages on server: Checked or unchecked, this setting has no effect on the connectivity failure

================================================

I don't see how ISP port blocking can be the issue (as suggested by Socket Error 10060), because these two systems are using the same internet connection.  Also, this is my initial effort to migrate to outlook.com from my ISP's proprietary email domain, which works OK, but is costing me extra money every month and is not a good long-term strategy.  My multiple ISP-proprietary email addresses are NOT exhibiting any connectivity issues; only the new outlook.com addresses.

Any idea what is going on here?

I have a similar question (unfortunately don't see where to ask a new question, so please re-direct me if need be.)

I am trying to export (or backup) my email messages that are in the storage folders of windows live mail from an old computer with Win Vista live mail to a new one using Win 8.1 live mail.  I tried the directions in the link provided.  I created a new folder on a flash drive as directed and selected (highlighted) a few storage folders to export.  It immediately said it was completed.  I plugged that into the new computer and imported per directions.  The folders appeared as they were supposed to, but inside each folder was only one random email--all others were missing.  I cked the flash drive to see if there was a problem and it also contained the same.  While it's nice to have the folders, it's rather useless without the messages inside.  I've tried the steps about 3 times selecting different folders and even tried highlighting all the files within the folder with the same results.

I'd definitely appreciate help with this.

restarting my computer and opening windows live mail, double clic on a new mail now opens a new visualisation tab, I want my new mails to open in the same tab. I was looking in the properties but could not find the correct option to change that. thank you for your kind answer.
