To who it may concern,
My name is Michelle and I was recently locked out of my hotmail account after forgetting the answers to my "secret questions".
I am an athlete and always traveling so i am always logging on from different computers in different countries but this time around I was shocked to forget my password and more shocked that I couldn't remember my secret answers set so many years back.

My hotmail is my primary email address used for my work and to stay in touch with family while I am away.

I keep trying to get a code but it never arrived in my second email. When they asked me to file the form with for example 3 latest sent email, I did, I gave all the info they asked me but still not able to log in. I m so disappointed.

I really need to gain access to this account again as everyday I am without it could cost me potential business and contact with family and loved ones.
Please advise me on how I can regain access to my account.
I can send pictures of passport or identification to help with the process but I am urgently seeking assistance on this matter so please if you could contact me as soon as possible on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Michelle

I just created a new account in case it easier to communicate.

Using Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331) on Windows 7 with Service Pack 1

- Messages arriving do not trigger a sound notification

- The "Play sound when new messages arrive" option is ticked

- There is one IMAP account currently configured

- System sounds and audio are working normally (OK)

- Other applications trigger sounds normally (OK)

- A different mail client [configured with other IMAP accounts] is able to trigger sounds as expected when new mail arrives

- Windows Live Mail is configured to "Only show notifications" (same as the other email client).  Changing this option does not make a difference

Is there a known issue with this?

Thanks,

DaveCe

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to us. As you have mentioned you do not want to subscribe to RSS feeds. What we suggest you to do is delete the feeds and set it not to update. To do this follow the steps below:

1. Open Windows Live Mail.

2. Press on Alt + F then click on Options.

3. Select Feeds, Under Manage Your Feeds click on Your feeds.

4. Once you have click on Your feeds, click Delete.

On the lower left side click on dropdown for Update feeds every: then select Never.

5. Click on Close.

Hope this helps. Let us know how things turn out.

Thank you.

Hello,

I have done the above steps prior to checking here (except installing Internet Exploder (Since I uninstalled it as part of my own attempt to fix this issue)) and still I get the RSS feed couldnt blah blah blah.  I dont do RSS, have never done RSS and want nothing to do with RSS.  But since this thread was started almost a year ago, and I am just now getting the RSS Message this must be an ongoing issue.  I havent checked anywhere else for a solution but I will after this post. If I find a fix else where I will post a link to the solution here (as long as that solution isnt Uninstall Essentials 2012). My OS is Windows 7 Home Pro 32bit.  I am hoping that when Windows 10 becomes available it isnt dumbed down even further than Win 7 is (compared to XP) It seems that Microsoft is getting closer and closer to becoming like America Online, that is to say, it is intended for people who have no business owning a computer in the first place.

If this post seems scathing, I apologize.  Chalk it up to frustration to finding that the only solution given is from September 2014 and doesnt solve issue.

Starting on friday Feb.28th I have been unable to sign on to windows Live Mail.

I get a message saying my email and/or password is incorrect. I have changed my password and verified it. My email and password work here and I can access my Microsoft account, I just cannot use live mail.

I have started this new thread as I was getting no response on the previous thread (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/livemail-sync/getting-error-code-0x80048820-sorry-we-were-unable/d053ae8d-9329-4a54-96f7-81479ca3253d).

As a result of this problem, I had to remove and the add my hotmail account to Windows Live mail, thus losing all my existing folders and messages. Fortunately, I had a backup but, when I import from the backup, the messages do not go back to their original location but into an "Imported" folder.

How can I restore them to their original location?

How do I install my Gmail account on Windows Live Mail. I have followed the instructions on my Gmail Account Settings. It still says check your user name and password. My user name and password are correct. It is working with other email clients.
I have a website that is blocked, have checked safe senders and block senders but it is not listed.  Have checked with domain and it is sending, how do i allow email from that site?

I cannot delete email in Outbox or in the Delete folder. Everything else is working. I have tried the repair which did not work. I have tried the uninstall and reinstall and did not work. I have tried taking the folders out of the registry and that did not work. I developed this problem after I changed my email to IMAP protocol and found out my ISP did not support IMAP. Then I uninstalled Windows Live Mail and set it up with POP and that is when the problems of not being able to delete email.

I've also got this problem following a hard drive swap and can't fix it following the above steps. I have renamed all WL component directories, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest software to no avail.

Im a bit stumped by Glenda's solution as Live Mail doesn't open in the first place it's difficult to logon to it.
