I have a Hotmail account which was accessed via Outlook. We now have a new PC with windows 8.1. E-mails go out saying "from windows Mail".
I appeared to have lost all the groups I had set up.
I have just installed Windows essentials, and rediscovered all my groups. However, when I send an e-mail, it seems to go at least twice - presumably because I can access e-mails via windows Live or Hotmail direct. How can I stop outgoing e-mails being duplicated?

I usually log into my hotmail account at least 5 times a day. I have notied an unsual email earlier this week which stated that someone has changed my password and security information. Since then I have tried to log into my email account to change the password, however it does not recognise my email account.
Please advice.

When Windows Live Mail first started I have to sign out and then sign back in to make contact groups available. If I don't I can still select the group but trying to send returns message to the effect that contacts not available, yet going to contacts show all.
Assistance appreciated.

my sister has WINDOWS MAIL but cannot open a Gmail account. How can I do this for her please? Thank you.
OT: Windows Live Mail 2009.
Somehow I lost the "ribbon" I think it is called. When Live Mail is opened, it is at the top of the page and displays a little picture besides the command such as a big red X next to the delete button. How can I restore that? Thanks.
Everytime my Windows Live Mail syncs my emails from both my outlook/live accounts and my gmail accounts, they come in twos. I checked everything I could think of and I can't figure out the problem.

Hi all, i am trying to setup family safety for my sons PC, we both have windows 7 on our PC. I have downloaded the Essentials form MS website and installed them on both PC. I am admin on both PC and he is standard user on both.
I click his user name in the user section and click setup parental controls, i then put my hotmail and password into the popup box and it says wrong name or password. I can log into the web mail for my Hotmail with same user name and password no problems at all.
I have tried quite a few different approaches all amounting to nothing. Logged into my web mail and done password reset, got a new password and then tried that, still nothing. I have searched on here and other places but cant seem to find something like this. Sorry if its there, I may of not used correct search terms.
Any help, support or guidance would be great.
ALSO NO Family safety in the products drop down below, so had to post it under Live mail, but I am only having issues with family safety.
Also as a side note, I can also logging my office 360 account with my same Hotmail and password.

i am able to receive emails, using livemail on windows 7, using my netbook; but when trying the other functions, above, i get the following on screen message "there is a problem opening this message. please try later". (my laptop works fine, with same server settings etc.)

The exact message is " Windows Live |Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Live Mail Message Store. Your Windows Live Mailbox data is currently being used by another program such as a virus scanner. Close the program or wait for it to complete its operation before opening Windows Live Mail again. 0x800C0155, 997
I have closed off any scanners, so how do I check what is using it
