WLM won't close when using the "X" at the extreme right upper corner (the normal close).   Neither will the WLM screen minimize.  The screen remains just as it was after you have finished reading/sending mail.  Windows Task Manager shows that WLM is NOT running -- even though the screen remains up.  Clicking on various parts of the WLM screen result in blue highlights of various functions, but nothing else seems to happen.

Starting another application from the taskbar (such as Firefox) results in normal operation.  The WLM screen disappears, and the new application screen appears.  In other words, everything works fine except that you must close the WLM screen manually.  It seems as though the screen simply doesn't refresh on closing.  This isn't a world-shaking issue, but it is a bit of a nuisance.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional with the Classic Shell, and have no other problems with WLM.

Just yesterday to work properly. Today, no you can not log in. I lost 4 mailboxes. Message - "This account does not exist Microsoft"

A long time ago, I had a FaceBook account. A long time agao I had connected the FaceBook account to Windows Live Mail or something that had preced that slightly.

Many years ago, I deleted my FaceBook account, in fact, I had to get the federal privacy ministers department involved to finally get FaceBook to delete everything they had about me or on me. That's another story though.

When I use Windows Live Mail on my computer it signs in the my live.ca account and it show all the former FaceBook entries. I cannot delete them.

When I sign out from Windows Live Mail, the FaceBook contacts disappear. When I sign in again, the FaceBook contacts come back.

So, we now know that the Facebook contacts are tied to the online Windows Live Mail login.

The problem is, these rogue FaceBook contacts do not show up anywhere within the online Microsoft Outlook or live infrastructure and there is no way to delete them.

With this posting, I am making a formal request of Microsoft to remove all FaceBook entries from my live.ca Contacts list.

This started on both my and my wife's computers a few months ago.  When we manually type in an address in the Live Mail "To" box - or even plug in an address from the Contacts list - it adds a semicolon and a space to the address - and the mail send then fails.

Bringing the mail up in the Outbox (where it's still sitting) and then removing the unwanted semicolon and space then lets the mail send.  As it is now, mail never successfully sends on the first attempt:  We keep having to remove the character and the space.

Removing the semicolon and space before sending doesn't work - they appear after the mail fail.  Help!

brand new laptop with windows 8.1, widows live email app must be repaired in the app store every time it is opened. after repair I can see email but if I close the email down restarting windows live triggers to same error and need for repair, perpetual cycle. I have deleted the aol acct and readded it, but the problem remains (aol is the only email account I have attempted to add to date)

When I send an email it always uses an address that does not exist anymore.  Example is an old gmx.com account that I cancelled years ago but still haunts me to this day.  Anyone using the reply to email that I send gets it returned as not available.  I have tried everything that I know of.  Even  though I have purchased a new computer and installed windows mail again it persists.  Tried logging in using the gmx account but tells me it does not exist.   How does one delete reply address from windows live mail.

Hi,

I know others are having the same problem and I tried all the suggestions I saw but no change. I changed Port to 587 as suggested somewhere but it was 465 before. I saw the suggestions for other providers such as earthlink but I did not see any post that involves att server. "The outgoing server requires authentication" was checked even before this problem started. Thank you.

I keep receiving this error message when I try to send email.  I receive just fine.  I am running Windows 7.   I am pretty computer illiterate and would appreciate a little help.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium and use Windows live mail. My problem is that every so often my various boxes like inbox, sent and all storage folders seem to corrupt in that they keep the mail headings but in the actual message box there is no message except ' Message cannot be found The contents of this message cannot be found.       Windows Live Mail '. Where has the message gone/or is stored and how can I recover it? It does not do it for all messages just a random selection.

Thanks, Paul
