Question:

Using Windows Live Mail, I copied my Hotmail account folders and EMail messages contained in these folders to my laptop computer hard drive. Next, using a drag and drop, I copied these folders and EMail messages to a USB flash drive as backup should my computer hard drive ever crash.

As copied using Windows Live Mail, the EMail messages have unique 16 character alpha-numeric names which does not lend itself to identifying Subject titles if looking to open and read a specific message. For example, Windows Live mail named one of the EMail messages, 02B153B2-00000019. If I double click on this file named 02B153B2-00000019, Windows Live Mail opens it and I can then read the entire EMail message including Subject (title), date received, person received from and the message.

Meanwhile, if I open Windows Live Mail and browse the USB flash drive to the folder containing this very same EMail message, 02B153B2-00000019, and try to Import it to Windows Live mail so that I can read it, I get an error message –

“No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try closing applications that may have files open.

Long story short, is it possible to Import EMail messages from the USB Flash to Windows Live Mail for viewing purposes? If so, then how do I do this?

Thanks. Mark18.

2012 Windows Live Mail (through Essentials)

Within last 2 days, I am unable to delete messages in Junk Mail folder.

When I try to delete, I get this message:

"An unknown error has occurred."

There is no reference as to how and what and what to do to fix.

It doesn't matter if I try to delete one email or a bunch, I simply get a"unknown error has occurred".

I'd really like some help with this problem.

Many thanks ...

I am unable to print from within Windows Live Mail 2012. No response using Ctrl+P, using Quick Access Toolbar, or from File menu. No queuing for the printer. I am able to print from all other programs, including IE. I have repaired all Windows Essentials Programs, uninstalled/reinstalled printer drivers, restarting 1000 times. I have tried everything other than unstalling/reinstalling Windows Essentials. Please advise.

Question:

I have successfully copied my Hotmail Account Folders named 2007_Inbox, 2007_Sent, 2008_Inbox, 2008_Sent, . ... 2014_Inbox & 2014_Sent, and the EMail messages contained in each of these folders, to my Win 7-Pro laptop computer hard drive using Windows Live Mail.

Meanwhile, since then, I created two new folders in my Hotmail Account called 20015__Inbox and 2015__Sent containing Email messages transferred in from my present active Inbox and Sent folders, respectively.

Question: Is there a way to copy only the new Hotmail 20015__Inbox and 2015__Sent folders, and EMail messages contained therein, to the same path on my computer hard drive without it overwriting the existing folders and files that were already copied? If so, how can I do this?

Thanks. Mark18.

Hi, I have this same problem.

My PC is a windows 7.5, totally new PC. Quad core.

And I installed Windows Live Mail and restored my messages from old PC.

Everytime I tried to type a new email or reply email, it will just freeze while i can switch to another program and do anything and return to Live Mail and it is still freezing..

Please advise if there is anything wrong with your software with 64bit system.

Thanks

After my computer did some Microsoft updates on 5/1/2015, my Windows Live Mail 2012 - Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331)

started deleting emails from Inbox and Sent mailbox on its own.

It's connected to an AT&T server account (Yahoo) using IMAP.

I then removed and re-added the AT&T email account (again using IMAP) and all of the emails returned as it re-synched with the server.

However, a few hours later (next morning) they were all gone again.

They also came back on their own and then disappeared again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue in the last few days?

Any ideas how to resolve?

I'm thinking maybe one of the Microsoft updates broke something?

I am having trouble with Windows Live - can't send emails to recipients with embarq, centurylink, aol, and now yahoo email addresses.  Am getting a Mail Delivery System email, Delivery Status Notification, where the delivery is aborted.  Tried to do option one above, but In Control Panel, in Programs/Features, there is no Windows Live Essential, only Windows Essentials 2012.  In option two, I got to Windows Live, but after clicking on that I only got a folder called Mail - no Installer.  I have Windows 7.  Are there any further options or instructions?

I am suddenly having log in problems with live mail.  When I open it up it shows my photo and name as logged in.  Then I keep getting "log in request" so I do with my details  but it keeps coming up "incorrect password".  I have changed my password and it comes up as "saved".  I used it to log in and all seems to go ok then I get the log in message again and when I try it comes up "incorrect password" again.   I have tried reinstalling live mail but am getting nowhere and am still not getting any email as it refuses to update.  Any not too complicated answers welcome  Terry

I transferred my WLM signatures (8 signatures) from old Windows with the help of the registry editor.

from the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows Live Mailsignatures.

I can see now in the new Windows registry the same 8 signatures under the same key.

However WLM does show only 1 signature in Options>Email>Signatures tab.

It is the signature 00000000 in the registry.

What can be wrong?

Thanks,

jas
