OT: windows live mail 2011 calender service.

When I open Windows Live Mail 2011. In the bottom right hand corner ' checking mail ' appears, followed by ' updating calender '. At this point the error appears. ' There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calender Service '. The error persists and so far I have put up with it. Now I

need to do something about it once and for all. My laptop has Windows Vista Home Premium , Service Pack 2 , 32 - bit .  Thank you.

How do I add a signature in Windows 8.1 mail?

I have 3 different accounts running on Windows Live Mail (WLM) and they all worked as they should up until a recent Windows 8.1 update around May 15, 2015.

With the update, my SSL settings had to be changed to work with my ISP and WLM. I changed the incoming and outgoing mail servers and the ports on each account. They all work as they should, but I now have to click the down arrow on Send/Receive and update each account separately. "All email Accounts" and "Update All" no longer work and only update one of the accounts. Aside from reinstalling, is there a solution to fix this?

Original Title: Problem in WLM with an email address

I have several email addresses in WLM and all are checked automatically for incoming mail. One address (the default address) will not receive. I get a timeout with "POP3 server not responded. Error ID 0x800CCC19" The dialogue box says that it is trying to download one of five messages. However, I set up the same email account on Thunderbird and it says there are no messages to download. I can also go into my mail account on the web and it similarly says there are no messages waiting on the server. If I uncheck this address for receipt of mail, WLM works perfectly. I have tried deleting the account from WLM and re-installing it but that makes no difference. I also made sure Windows Essentials was updated. What is causing this problem?

Last night after running a full scan with Windows Defender the following message box came up:

C:WindowsWinSxSwow64_microsoft-windows-i..micronverter-enduser and then a lot of letters and numbers ending with html.iec

Below it stated to send the page to help microsoft to determine if item is malicious. I sent the page.

Could someone please tell me what this is? I ran Windows Defender again and the box did not come up.  Could it be some kind of virus???

Question: Can I install just the Windows (File) Explorer part of Windows 7 on my Win XP, with Service PAK 7, computer? Note that I own 2 HP-Pavilion Laptop computers, one from 2005 with Win XP & Service PAK 7, and a second with the Win7-Pro operating system. I am happy with these 2 machines configured as they are as I have older legacy software that I run on the older XP machine and newer software that I run on the Win7-Pro machine.

The reason I am asking this is because if I try to use Windows (File) Explorer, on my XP machine, to explore Hotmail EMail message folders and files, downloaded using Windows Live Mail to my win7-Pro machine hard drive and subsequently copied to a USB flash drive, I cannot set up the Windows Explorer column headers to display the EMail message Subject (titles), Date Received/Sent or Authors. Furthermore, the default message headers are not useful as they contain things like the EMail message "Name" which is an oddball 16 character alpha numeric descriptor, such as 02B153B2-00000019.

For my Windows 7-Pro computer, I can use Windows (File) Explorer and right click on the file header and uncheck and check off column headings that I want to display, such as unchecking the file type, date downloaded, and checking off to display the Subject, Date Received/Sent and Authors. This works fine on my Win7-Pro computer but not on the XP machine. When I try to check off to display things like Subject, Date Received/Sent and Authors on my XP machine, these headers do appear but the columns underneath are blank. Why?

I wish to import my address list organised into folders but all I seem to get is one big list and no way to keep the folders.  Since I have several thousand addresses, this is a real problem.  Can anyone tell me how to import the contacts and keep them in the folders?

[Original title: windows Live mail contacts list]

One of my Outlook accounts that I have synched on wlm has suddenly stopped working.  I changed nothing on the account.  I have tried deleting the account and re-establishing it and it does not work.

Computer: HP Pavilion Desktop

Operating System: Windows 8.1

Problem: Over the last week, contacts have been getting randomly removed from WLM. We had approx. 650 contacts and are now down to 617.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Scanned the computer for infections (MalwareBytes, AVG) which came back clean.
  2. Checked for Updates, which are current.
  3. Reviews the Event Logs, nothing out of the ordinary.
  4. Performed a backup of the contacts.

Thank you for your help.
