Original Title : Mr

I use windows live mail. Recently, I deleted an email which I should have kept. How to retrieve please? I have tried a few methods but found it difficult to recover the particular email I wanted. Any suggestions  please?
I am unable to get into my email unless I enter a password.  The password I have been using for Windows Live Mail is now unacceptable. I was recently hack and was shut out of my desk top computer.  I am up and running now except for this email password problem.  Any suggestions on how I can get back into my email?

I went to the centurylink website and followed their instructions on how to setup email using Windows Live Mail. When I go to check email i get an error stating my username / password was wrong. Yet it works when I go to check my email from their website. So unsure what the problem with windows live mail is.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Centurytel account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

I noticed that my contacts list in WLM (Win 7 64) has grown with multiple duplicates and that I cannot edit any entries. It seems there are many multiple entries which do NOT show up as "Address Book" entries. When I try to input a new contact nothing happens, my input work is not saved and the new contact is not shown.

These changes were not initiated by anyone using this one computer. It seems (not certain) these changes in the contacts list occurred slowly over a long period of time. Now when I search a contact list I discover that addressing information which was included with my contacts information is missing and I cannot update/change of correct for the missing data.

I've searched the on line forums and cannot see a FIX for my issue. Please help with this matter at your earliest convenience.

With Thanks

Stephen

Welcome to Microsoft Community forum and I am here to assist you in opening your emails on Windows Live Mail. Please be informed that the error message you have receive is a generic one which means that there is not enough memory that is why you cannot open the email. To troubleshoot this, follow the steps below:

1. Restart the computer (this is to ensure that Live Mail is fully shut down, and that none of it's components are in use when the computer starts)

2. Click Start, type CMD but do not press enter

3. You will see cmd.exe in the search results, right click on it and select Run as Administrator - type your admin password if asked, and if UAC pops up asking premission, allow it

4. You should now see the command prompt, with the following displayed:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]

Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:Windowssystem32>

5. Copy the following (Ctrl+C)

esentutl.exe -d "%userprofile%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live MailMail.MSMessageStore"

Note: the "" are necessary

6. Right click in the command prompt Window, and select Paste, so you now see the following:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]

Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:Windowssystem32>esentutl.exe -d "%userprofile%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live MailMail.MSMessageStore"

7. Press Enter. esentutl will now defragment the Live Mail database file

8. Once done, you can close the command prompt, and restart the PC again

Tried this fix and now Live Mail will not open at all.  I cannot access my emails.

Long winded error message, that you cannot copy and paste which is a dumb idea, that says in effect another program is access the mail file.

I'm running Windows 10.

Is it possible to uninstall Windows Live Mail in Windows 7, IE 11 and not reinstall it?  I do not want to deal with it at all, too many issues taking too much time since upgrading from Vista Home Premium and 32 bit to 64 bit. . I want to keep Windows Live Mail uninstalled,  and continue using my original email program that isn't Windows.

I have just upgraded from windows 8 to windows 10 and now in windows live mail the printer dialogue doesn't open when you click print or ctrl+p.

The send/receive progress box shows the current (only) task as send 2 message(s) using '[my default mail account]' and a status of 0 of 1 tasks have completed successfully

The Stop button is greyed out, so I can't even tell it to give up -- and it never times out even if I wait much longer than the maximum time configured for any connection.

There are dozens of threads here about Windows Live Mail with messages stuck in the outbox -- but none of the 'solutions' are even anything that can be attempted in this case because there is no way to get to any of the controls for Windows Live Mail - what you see in the picture above is ALL there is.
