Question about Outlook Express

Back in August, there was a MS download and then my WLM froze.  Since then, on a random basis, when I close WLM, it says that a file is in use and all my email get deleted. I thought it was a problem with my antivirus software (I use McCaffee), but it is not always scanning when this error occurs.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I'm running Windows 7. In the last couple of days Live Mail 2012 randomly won't open. I restart the computer and then it will open and run just fine. I'm not sure what is going on. Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried to find where I can change this, I have checked all defaults and changed from internet explorer to foxfire which did not help. Does anyone where in Internet explorer I can change and do I get there thru windows settings? Or any other ideas? I am the executor on this computer so should be able to access it. the computer is now connected to the  internet but was not at first, not even sure what I did to fix it? But so far so good at least it is only mail (my default was Internet explorer) that is offline now. Can't wait for suggestions, hopefully something simple I just don't know about.

I can see my emails on my phone so I will get it there and be able to reply.

My Windows Live Mail has been trying to send two photograph as attachments.  Now, today, it is in the send mode but not sending and I cannot get into my email or do anything in Windows Live Mail while it is stuck in this "send" mode.

I have been saving e-mails sorted into folders, but the e-mails I am most concerned about are those dating back to 2010 when my mom became sick and we lost her.

I also had very memorable e-mails going back 12 years saved regarding my pets.

I did not realize until this evening, when I was searching for saved e-mails regarding my pets that most of them were gone.  Then I checked my folder regarding my mom and most of those are missing as well.  Where can I find them?
