I am traveling overseas for several weeks and do not want emails constantly downloading

I use web mail to screen emails, but sometimes I forget and end up with a download of 60-100 emails into live mail

Is there some way to turn-on/off downloads ?

thanks

chris

Hi,

I'm using Windows Live Mail 2012 under Windows 7 as my e-mail client for my outlook.com address. Yesterday I received an e-mail from Microsoft that due to some changes to the e-mail service in the future, I need to download some update for Windows Live Mail 2012. This is the update I was linked to:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49486

When I installed the update, all my subfolders disappeared from under my main account. I found out that this could be resolved by removing and then re-adding my account, so I obviously did it. Now (it's downloading the e-mails at the moment) there appears to be some coding error in the e-mail list, where I see the senders and the titles of my e-mails, not the messages themselves. Some accented letters (like Á, É, etc.) are missing from the senders' name (but not the title apparently), so the whole e-mail list appears broken now. The list appeared perfectly before downloading the update.

It's still downloading e-mails at the moment, I'll update you if the problem happens to disappear after finishing the synchronization process.

Thanks,

Brumi

Many users of Windows Live Mail 2012 have received an email under this heading from the Outlook Team advising them of the changes that are taking place at Outlook.com as accounts are migrated to the same platform as that used by Office 365. Apart from advice to switch to using the built-in Mail apps on Windows 8.1 and 10, users are instructed to apply the patch KB3093594. A few points to note:

  1. The change means that migrated accounts can no longer be synchronized using the old DeltaSync protocol. To synchronize these accounts, users can set up the account again to use IMAP. This will enable mail messages and folders to synchronize, but not the calendar and contacts.

  2. The patch enables support for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) to be used instead of DeltaSync in Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 (see System requirements on the download page). It updates Windows Live Mail to build 16.4.3563.0918.

  3. Users who install the patch on Windows 10 may find that the program crashes soon after start. This will only happen if the user is automatically signed in on program start, or attempts to sign in later. Some users have found that they can prevent this crash by running the program in Windows 8 compatibility mode:

    1. Install the patch when no programs are running. The program may open and crash - if it doesn't, close it down and wait a few minutes.

    2. Reboot the computer.

    3. Open File Explorer (Windows key  + E) and navigate to
      C:Program Files (x86)Windows LiveMail*
      and open the folder.

    4. Right-click on wlmail.exe and select Properties. On the Compatibility tab, select Run this program in compatibility mode for > Windows 8.

    5. Click Apply and OK, then launch Windows Live Mail and test.

  4. Mail synchronization errors can often be cleared by removing the account, closing down the program and waiting a few minutes, then re-launching it and adding the account back again.

  5. We don't know what is going to happen with Windows Live Mail 2009 on XP and 2011 on Vista. It is clear that users will no longer be able to sign in with a migrated account to synchronize contacts and calendar, and they won't be able to synchronize mail messages and folders using DeltaSync. Whether the programs will continue to work in other respects (e.g. as a POP3, IMAP and NNTP client) remains to be seen.

* Assuming you have a 64-bit system. If yours is a 32-bit system, leave out ' (x86)' from the file path.

I'm running Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7. I received the Outlook Team email today indicating to use the supplied link to update my Windows Live Mail client (KB3093594).

I ran the update and now I have version 2012 (Build 16.4.3563.0918).

Now my Windows Live Mail 2012 client just hangs trying to sync my mail; I'm using a Hotmail account.

How do I correct this?

I just received Microsoft Gadget. Please what does it do?

Starts out:

Dear user,
In a few weeks, we will be making some changes to our email services that might impact your @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live, or @msn email account. Those changes will prevent your email from being delivered to the Windows Live Mail 2012 application you use.

I do not have Live Mail 2012, I have LIVE MAIL.

In order to continue using Windows Live Mail 2012 to send and receive email for your account, you need to install the latest update published here.
If you use Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, we recommend that you switch to the built in Mail app in Windows to stay connected and get the latest feature updates on Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
Windows Live Essentials 2009 and 2011 are not supported anymore, and you will need to update to Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 10 and use the Mail app, or use www.outlook.com. To learn more about the Mail app, please click here.

When I click on the 'click here' NOTHING.

How is this going to affect me when you go LIVE, and I may NOT receive MAIL from Microsoft? does that mean I totally get rid of it, and never use it again? and just keep the shell of the old Outlook <current version> like I did when you got rid of Outlook totally

from the 2000's until they brought it back not that long ago?

The clock is ticking! and you answer is?

I have more than 1 GB dat bundle, please does Software Update still require WiFi?
Following the email which no doubt many of us have received, when trying to install update KB3093594 for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 instead of updating my Live Mail it keeps initiating Corel Paintshop Pro X7 which is installed on my computer!  Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?  Better still, can Microsoft please explain why so many of us are having problems with this 'essential' update?  (Why not just leave things as they were - Live Mail works perfectly well at the moment).
Sirs,  Today I received email from outlook to update the latest update of windows live mail 2012.  I am using windows 7.00 and windows live mail.  After updating the said update i am receiving error as under Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (nirav_rjt) account.  Subject 'test email' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE20007.  Please help to resolve this error as due to this i am unable to receive and send email from my windows live
