I am not using WLM for windows 10 because of certain problems:

How do I find my listed contacts in my c:UsersjhmacAppData . . . ?

I am using the 2007 edition of WLM and the contacts are easily found in the Windows Live Mail folder, so I am still using that edition.

There are other problems with the new win 10 WLM which I don't like because it is set up differently than 2007 ed.

If I felt pleased using the new WLM I would be using it.

Maybe you could show me where I find my contact list so that I could add to it or edit it and then I could start appreciate the new edition.

Jim

I am running Windows 10 on my desktop PC and would like to replace the email program with LiveMail 2012. Is this possible, and if so, how is it done.

Thank you,

Don

After all the problems I had with Windows 10, many of which Microsoft tech support could not correct I restored Windows 8.1 on my Surface 3 tablet. However, the email program I then had was useless; so, with the help of the tech support again, we reinstalled LiveMail 2012 which I prefer. One problem I am left with is the Email Contact list; it contains everyone by name, but without their email addresses. I then found that if I went into the tile People, all the names together with their email addresses were present there. Is there any way to transfer/import the People list into LiveMail 2012?

Thank you,

Don

I was running Windows Live Mail 2011 just fine for years. Due to the recent announcement "In order to continue using Windows Live Mail 2012 to send and receive email for your account, you need to install the latest update published here." I decided to update to update to Windows Live Mail 2012 and apply the patch. I've had nothing but issues ever since.

1. My sub-folders are gone. I have folders for organizing emails. I can see the folders and all the sub-folders under them when I log into my hotmail account using a browser. I can see the folders but not any of the subfolders. I deleted the account and re-created it. After re-creation, all the folders and subfolders were downloaded to sync them up and showed up correctly. Then, I quit Windows live mail and started it again. All the subfolders were gone again. Same for non-hotmail accounts.

2. If I apply the patch, I get an error saying messages cannot be sent or received, even though the folders are synced.

I know the above said in order to continue using Windows Live Mail 2012 a patch needs to be applied. Is that true for 2011 as well? I am ready to uninstall 2012 and go back to 2011 where I didn't have any of these issues.

I received an answer regarding a previous question about problems opening Windows Live Mail.  I followed his instructions and still had problems.  Today I decided to uninstall Windows Essentials 2012 and reinstall it.  I'm still having problems.  When I go to start Windows Live Mail it does not open.  It just sits there spinning away.  I have to control, Alt, Delete to stop this.  I realize I probably lost all of my contacts and folders when I uninstalled, but I still am nowhere.  I really liked Windows Live mail (it was the closest to the old Outlook Express).  Using Firefox and Windows 7 Pro.

There must be something I can do and I'd appreciate more help with this.  Thanks in advance.
