Hello,

I work with individuals who are blind or visually impaired and currently have a client who is using Windows Live Mail 2012 as his e-mail client.  I am aware of the "accelerators," e.g., ALT+M,IA, to insert an attachment on an e-mail message.  However, there are also a number of keyboard shortcuts, many shown at this webpage on wordpress, that are far fewer keystrokes to accomplish the same tasks as the accelerators do, and that really matters when everything you do must be done via the keyboard with no mouse involvement whatsoever.

There is a keyboard shortcut, CTRL+J, that is intended for attaching an image and opens the browse dialog in My Pictures.  I know that one could use this and then navigate to My Documents, but I truly fail to believe that there is not the equivalent shortcut that would open the browse dialog in My Documents, which one wants to do far more frequently, but I can't find it.

I also cannot find any official Microsoft documentation regarding the full scope of keyboard shortcuts available in Windows Live Mail 2012, and that's pretty sad.  If anyone knows where these might be could you please let me know?

Thanks,

Brian

I use WLM 2012 with Windows 7 Professional (both fully updated).

At January 14 2016 I noticed that all my calendar items (4 years of data) had disappeared. Also the name of the calendar had changed into the name of my WLM-account (without a selection box in front of the name and a down-arrow after the name) and it was the only available calendar. Clicking the button "Calendar" in the "New" section of the ribbon had no effect (as far as I could see). I suspect "Update for Windows Life Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594)", which I applied at January 8th 2016, as the cause of this problem.

I only use WLM at my desktop computer and don't synchronize with any other calendar. Therefore the setting in "Option/Mail/Connection/Connecting to Windows Live services" always was "Stop signing in". About two years ago I was experimenting and did log into my WLM-account. After restarting WLM my calendar had disappeared. I succeeded getting it back by changing the before mentioned setting in "Sign in" and then, at every the start-up of WLM, clicking the "Cancel" button in the "Sign in to Windows Live Mail" window. This was still the way I worked with WLM till the Calendar disappeared again at January 14 2016.

After changing the before mentioned setting back to "Stop signing in", I find a calendar with the name Calendar (with the drop down menu), but without any items (and now it is possible to add new calendars by clicking the button "Calendar" in the "New" section of the ribbon).

I find files "WLCalendarStore.edb" and "WLCalendarStore.pat" together with a file "edb.chk" in the following locations:
01) WLM Store FolderCalendarsDBStore
02) WLM Store FolderCalendarsDBStoreBackupnew
03) WLM Store FolderCalendarsBackup 2016-01-15 01.10.01
04) WLM Store FolderCalendarsBackup 2016-01-15 01.10.01Backupnew
05) WLM Store FolderCalendars(name WLM account)Backup 2016-01-09 09.39.11
06) WLM Store FolderCalendars(name WLM account)Backup 2016-01-09 09.39.11Backupnew
07) WLM Store FolderCalendars(name WLM account)DBStore
08) WLM Store FolderCalendars(name WLM account)DBStoreBackupnew

09) C:\UsersPimAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live MailCalendarsDBStore
10) C:\UsersPimAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live MailCalendarsDBStoreBackupnew

The largest file "WLCalendarStore.edb" is that in location 06: 8216 KB.

I see also other files in the same locations:
a) edb.chk
b) edbHHHHH.log
c) tempedb.edb
Where "HHHHH" for a hexadecimal number of 5 digits. Not all 4 files are present in every location.

My question is can I get back my disappeared calendar items, and how?

I am not sure what the 'active' location is, but my guess is location 01.
Can I copy the files "WLCalendarStore.edb" and "WLCalendarStore.pat" from location 06 to location 01?
Location 06 also contains a file "edb0037F.log". Do I have to copy also that file to location 01?
Any other ideas?

Hello. I have made no setting changes, but starting a few days ago, whenever I try to get email via Windows Live Mail (which has worked well for years), it returns immediately and says that I have no new email messages. No error message is displayed; by all appearances it is the normal response that would occur if there truly were no new messages.

However, I can access my account via hotmail.com, which shows that I have been receiving my usual number of messages. I can also send messages via hotmail.com, and they are received normally.

If I send an email message from Windows Live Mail, it is received by the addressee, but doesn't appear in my Sent Items there. Meanwhile, hotmail.com displays correctly all the email that I have been both receiving and sending.

What can be causing this?

--best regards

i con not install windows live id sign-in assistant 6.5 23 bit windows 7

I don't know if I triggered this by signing into Outlook.com (I use a hotmail, not sure if that matters), but since I reinstalled my Windows 7 on a larger hard drive, I can't get Windows Live Mail to open after I've signed in, I keep getting error 0x8E5E0247, "Your calendar contains corrupt data that is forcing Windows Live Mail to close".

Well, I've never used the calendar in Live Mail, and I don't plan on using it; I don't know why that's required for me to check my email there. Sometimes I check my email at Outlook.com because I'm on a different computer; I did notice something about the "new" outlook, but I didn't think it would break my calendar that I never use on my laptop that would then break the email feature.

Is there some file I can edit to make it so Live Mail skips checking the calendar? This is kind of ridiculous at this point, as Outlook.com is inferior to Live Mail (I don't use a tablet, which it seems to be built for), with its oversized text and bloated empty space everywhere, I simply can't see as many emails per screen, nor as much information per email at a time, and it doesn't appear I can add multiple accounts there nor do I have as many options there either. Is there some older version of Live Mail I can install that won't update and break because of a calendar I don't use?

How do I reinstall Windows Live Mail 2012 after unistalling it from my computer?  I did this because I continually received error messages when getting into my email account.  The server was unable to send or receive messages.

Once upgrading to Windows 10 my Live Mail files have changed. Deleted message no longer stay in trash more than a few days. Read messages disappear after one month. Why?

Unable to print windows live mail e-mails.  Can print WORD documents and pictures.  Only problem with e-mails.
