Question about Outlook Express

Hi,

Trying to add a contact both from an email received and through the add contact function, only to received the following message 'the contact information could not be saved. Check the contact's information and try again'. All contact information is correct.

Previous advice on this forum states to 'sign out' of Windows Live Mail via the icon at the end of the Home ribbon and sign back in again.

Have tried this, was able the add the contact when signed out but once signed in could not view the signed contact nor add the contact, still receiving the same error message.

Any recommendations on how to fix this?

We are using Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308) on Windows 7

I have entered 2 email accounts in WLM 2012 and I can receive messages by 1 account but the second account sends me an error message 0x800CCC92"Authentication Failed Incorrect Password". I know that the password is correct because I use it to get mail  for this account via Webmail.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hello,

When ever I try to open a link or web link on a email using Windows Live Mail (Windows Essentials 2012) on Windows 10 a popup box opens with You'll need a new app to open this http. Look for an app in the store with the check box selected for always use this app and the OK button grayed out.

I've tried doing a repair on Windows Essentials 2012 but this did not help.

This seems to happen on http hyperlinks as I created a word document with a http hyperlink and also received a popup box with the same message as the live mail.

The one Post on this Board addressing this question (total number of emails) only came up with a "Total Unread Emails" -- so it seems there is no way to get that number out of WLM options itself.

I was wondering if someone knew the location of the WLM folder containing all of the emails -- and maybe one could do a properties on that folder.  Of course, it would depend on how the emails are stored.  For instance,

are the stored in multiple folders

are the email message themselves stored as files,

I don't know the answers to these questions, but was hoping someone in this WLM community might know.

I just need to know the "TOTAL" number of email messages because I am thinking about switching over to an IMAP protocol with our server and need to know if the current number of emails will fit in our server.

I have two sttistics: logging into the server directly, I have 703 emails (30 days worth) in my POP3 Inbox and it is using up 3% of my available storage.  My wife has 1084 emails in her Inbox, using 7% of her server (same server, same size server limits, I guess her email messages are bigger than mine).

Anyway, I want to get an idea if the total number of emails in my WLM would fit within our server limits.  Yeah, I know I can't upload my emails -- I just wanted to see where I am at right now -- for instance, at my 3% level (rather, lets use 4%), I figure my server can hold about 17,000 emails before filling up -- so do I have more than 17,000 emails saved up over 5-10 years.  on the other hand, my wife's server would only hold around 13,000 emails (and I know she has more than that, 10,000 in her Inbox alone).

Anyway, email management is another discussion -- I just want to know if there is a way to determent the total number of email in our WLM (different computers).

In my old Windows I kept WLM emails storage on separate drive.

After installing the new Windows 7 and WLM 12 I did the following:

1.

Import my email accounts

2.

Redirected storage to the empty folder on separate drive.

3.

Close WLM

4.

Copy content of my old email storage folder into that new empty folder.

5.

Start WLM but WLM refuses to start.

message:

WLM could not be started. App was unable to locate its database......

How to correct that? What did I do wrong?

I have two headings in the Contacts list in Windows Live Mail. One is CONTACTS and the other is Social Networks. The only social network I access is LinkedIn and that icon appears next to all of the contacts in the SOCIAL NETWORK list. The contacts in the CONTACT list  that are not in the SOCIAL NETWORK list have "Edit Contact" displayed and active on each contacts information page. Contacts in the SPOCIAL NETWORK list do not have this information displayed or even "delete contact" displayed. My problem is that I can not edit contact info or even delete a contact  that is included in the SOCIAL NETWORK list. I have tried to find a way to remove the SOCIAL NETWORK list but have not been successful yet. Does anyone know how I can get out of the situation. I would like to avoid Outlook if possible. I am using Windows Live Mail 2012 and have been using Windows Live Mail versions since they first came out.

Windows 7 - Still struggling with WLM.  Have one email address that will receive but cannot send.  It is my primary address for business website.  Have gone through all the trouble shooting including support from the web hosting techs, . Can send and recieve from the web. Positive all the settings are correct.  Have tried uninstalling & reinstalling WLM, tried the repair Windows essentials. error message :  The connection to the server has failed.
