I have been using Skydrive to keep file synced between my laptop and desktop for over a year now.  I just finished updating my desktop to windows 8.1 and noticed my network utilization was high.  I found that the culprit was Skydrive; it had decided to create a copy of and subsequently upload every file in my skydrive folder.  In some cases, it made more than one copy (appending the desktop name twice) even on files I had not opened in several months.

I have encountered duplication before when it made sense, such as accidentally editing a word document on both computers.  However, the current behavior seems very likely to be some sort of bug.

The base file (without any computer names appended) is listed as available "online only" while the files with the most names appended is listed as available offline.  I am therefore guessing that if I delete the files with the computer names appended, I will have to re-download all my files from the Skydrive servers.

Edit:
Desktop is running Win 8.1 enterprise x64
Laptop is running Win 8.0 enterprise x64
I have filled out the questionnaire three times in the past month to recover my old email address. I have not gotten any response. How can I recover the password?
How can I delete all 800 or so messages in my inbox all at one time?
Outlook.com was working perfectly for my domain until I changed the A record and the nameservers in accordance with our new hosting provider. Then the email stopped working. When I log into Windows Live Domains Admin Center, my domain has a status of "Pending DNS configuration". There is an alert saying I need to prove ownership of my domain. I deleted all the existing DNS records and set up the necessary MX and TXT records. However, when I click to refresh the alert message in the Admin Center, it refuses to go away.

Any advice/Help appreciated.

Hi all of you who use outlook.com/outlook live email and live outside the US, have you too tried to sign up for ad free outlook.com (outlook.com plus) and found that the billing address window is limited only to people who have a US-based billing address?

Repeatedly over the last few months I have issues with using POP with Yahoo. Normally this lasted a day or so, but usually cleared up. I have two accounts from which Outlook.com was pulling the mail but both stopped about two weeks ago with "We had an error retrieving your mail from..." I tried deleting and recreating one of the two but now I can't add it at all. It works if I add it as a sending only account so it can authenticate with the SMTP server only the POP server is giving errors. Yahoo claim there is nothing wrong at their end and I can POP it on the desktop, just not on Outlook.com. It's as if there is something in the POP logon which is giving an unexpected result.

Over TELNET the response is (user and password hidden)

+OK hello from popgate-0.8.0.450444 pop101.plus.mail.bf1.yahoo.com
USER XXXXX
+OK password required.
PASS PPPPP
+OK maildrop ready, 0 messages (0 octets) (0)

Which looks ok to me (although it doesn't show the username in the maildrop line)

Any ideas?

How can I manage the folders in Windows Live Mail (move around, sort alphabetically, etc.)?
Apparently we are having an issue with the Outlook Calendar.  Every time we click on the Calendar function it seems to be attempting to log in or something and then returns an error message stating that it was having a problem and could not access the Calendar and to try again later.  Have been attempting to access the Calendar all day - approximately 12 hours now and still get the same error message.  Under support it only indicates that the Calendar function was or would be down for maintenance on 23 Oct 2013, but since it is 25 Oct - not sure what is occurring.  All other functions Mail, People, SkyDrive seem to be working normally.  Any one else experiencing this issue or does anyone know if the issue is being addressed.

I have a number of email accounts which I use for particular purposes to be organised.

I am extremely concerned at the loss of messages especially with no prior warning.

I am a college instructor and have lost very important information.

I did not realise that it is apparently possible to have them retrieved - I hope this is correct.

I would more than appreciate advice as to how to reinstate all messages removed in the change over to Outlook.

I must say that I am disappointed that such action was taken without prior warning or indeed why at all.

I look forward to a positive reply as soon as you are able to do so.

This account is one of my accounts in which all prior messages were removed.

My Thanks,

Ian.
