Hello,

I had Movie Maker installed on Windows 8.1, I think it was part of Windows Live Essentials 2011.

Then Windows Upgrade said to upgrade to Windows Live Essentials 2012.  I did that, but I got the message,

"Couldn't install programs.

An unknown error occurred.

Error:  0x8007064c

Source:  UXPlatformCore"

However, during this process, it had uninstalled the Movie Maker program I had been using.

I then went to try to reinstall Windows Live Essentials 2011, but got the message, "a newer version of Essentials is already installed."

I uninstalled everything I could and followed all the help advice etc. I could find about this program and these error codes, but nothing is working, I just get the error messages when I try to install either program.

I have tried System Restore and gone through the registry manually and uninstalled every possible reference to Windows Live Essentials and Movie Maker and used every outside program I can find, including the obsolete Microsoft Fixit, but I can't get anything to work.

I can install Movie Maker 2.6, but it is very primitive and doesn't work at all like the newer versions.

I appreciate any help anyone is able to provide.

Thank you.
