I downloaded Movie Maker to my HP Slimline PC with Windows 7 Home Premium so that I could create a slide show with narration on the restoration I am doing on a vintage boat.

I was able to enter my slides and was able to manipulate slides, add effects, and set the run times.

Next I used an Insignia boom mic and headset to add the narration.  A bar appeared below the slides that looked like it was supposed to have sound levels in it, but there was just a millisecond of static when I played the slide show and the rest was silence.   I saved the narration file and it still wouldn’t work.

I then tried to add music to the slides. I could add and remove recordings to the slides with no problem.  Then I decided to test the Insignia headset.

I used Sound Recorder in Accessories to record a voice file.  I was able to create the file, save it, and play it successfully.

I went into Sound from the Control Panel and tried a couple of things without success.  I am not particularly computer savvy so I was reluctant to change too much.

So, I can get music on my slides.  I can make a .wav file and play it using my boom mic, but I cannot get a narration file to work with the slides.

I suspect this may be an operator error, but I have run out of ideas.

I would appreciate any help I can get.
