I installed Windows 10 - didn't like it - went back to Windows 7.

Windows Live Mail duplicated every e-mail.  But, of each duplicated e-mail, one was marked as previously read and the message was is available.  The other was not marked as read and is legible.

Deleting the unreadable e-mails has proven difficult.  Some can be deleted, some I have to try to delete twice and others have to be moved to the junk e-mail folder and then deleted from there.  No matter what method is used, none can me moved as a batch.  Each e-mail has to be handled individually.

Although VERY cumbersome, the e-mails can be deleted.

The problem I have not been able to resolve are the folders.

Along with the duplicate e-mails, folders were also duplicated.  Unfortunately, the folders cannot be deleted.

So my question is, how do I fix the problem of not being able to delete the folders?

By the way, I have tried repairing the Windows Live programs using the Control Panel Uninstall/Change.
