I like windows photo viewer and want to use it, but the system won't let me change the defaults so that Windows Photo Viewer is the primary program to display pictures.  I have tried changing the individual extension defaults, for example jpg to be opened with windows photo viewer.  But it never works.  The program in control is windows photo gallery, which I prefer not to have.  Can I delete it, and if I did delete it, would I be able to use windows Photo Viewer?  

I have tried making Windows Photo Viewer the default for all functions, tried checking off each function within it, but the defaults won't take in Windows ten, it is maddening.  

Please help.  I don't know how to go into the registry and fix this and if need, please carefully direct me step by step
