I like to use windows photo viewer to access pictures, but windows 10 has made the default photo gallery.  It will not let me change defaults, either by program or by extensions.  For example I tried to change the extension .jpg so that it would be opened by windows photo viewer, but the change did not take.   I tried to make the windows photo viewer the default for all that it could do and it didn't work, then by specific extensions and it didn't work.  I restarted the computer several times in combination with trying to change defaults and it will not work.

Can I delete the Photo Gallery program in order to attempt to get Windows Photo Viewer to work?

I am at a loss, having the program I want to use and unable to use it.  It is much more convenient for me.  Thanks for any help, this is maddening
