I have been using Windows Live Mail 2012 in Windows 10, with a Hotmail.com account.  The latest update to WLM2012 has sunk the ship for me as far as that e-mail client goes.  I have updated, re-installed, tried the various solutions proffered in this forum, including adding the account in IMAP format.  It simply does not work like it has in the past.

I would like to export the contents of all local storage folders from WLM2012.  I have Office365 on the machine so would like to start anew with this account using Outlook2016, and import those locally stored messages.  However, when I try to export the messages from my WLM local storage folders, the program crashes.  Furthermore, when I follow directions found in this forum to first "work offline", then initiate the export, the program switches back to "work online" as soon as I start the export.  I have tried exporting all messages rather than just selected folders, and even tried disabling my network adapter so I am truly working offline, but once the export process moves from the cloud-based folders to the local storage folders, WLM2012 crashes.

Fortunately, I have saved a copy of the local storage folders in another location.  Also, I have re-set the e-mail app preference on the machine to Outlook.  When I open a message in the copied folder, Outlook opens it and shows the message correctly.  However, for the life of me I cannot find a way to import the messages in those folders into Outlook.

Plus, now when I go back to attempt to open a message in a storage folder in WLM2012, it says the content of the message is not available.

Can someone please provide specific guidance on exporting messages in the WLM2012 local storage folders from WLM2012 into Outlook2016?
