I want to change the auto settings so that when I attach a device to my computer that this device isn't automatically scanned for photo or other media. Can this be done and how? 

For instance I don't want to automatically get someone's photos or video if their device is connected. Also I plug in my iPod to charge and Windows Live Photo Gallery automatically comes on and scans the device every time. Every time an error appears and announces there are no pictures or videos on my device.
