Our school recently updated to Windows 10 and now the mpg files will not work with movie maker.  I teach an 8th grade video class.  The IT department has said that all of the files need to come off the camera in a different format - which I can't find any way to do that if it is even possible.  Otherwise, I will need to convert each file so it will work.  There will be too many files for the kids to convert.  Each time they record we get at least 20 files.  It's just not practical.  Are there any other options?
