My mother has an Outlook.com-based email account. (It was originally a Hotmail account.) When she selects an email and clicks "Archive"--either the Archive menu item at the top or the Archive button in the action bar--the selection advances to the next email but the previously email isn't actually archived. In other words, it's still exactly where it was. What's wrong? How can I diagnose and fix the problem?

I've seen articles saying that the first time you click Archive it's supposed to ask you where things should be archived to. I have no idea what happened the first time she clicked it. All I can say is that clicking it now seems to do nothing. (I also can't find anything that tells you how to find out where archived emails are being sent.)
