NOTE: I was required to choose a "product" before being able to post. None of the products fit my issue. I chose "Writer" because the others are clearly NOT the product in question. It is simply the way WINDOWS 7 is performing after an update.
Using Windows 7 on 64-bit computer. Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.
After an automatic update by Windows 7 (which ran overnight) the icons within folders have changed. In particular, I keep audiobooks on my system. They are treated as "music files" by almost every program -- which is fine, no problem -- but before I had icons of different colors for different formats. Now the icons are all blue on white -- and without my glasses -- are hard to distinguish.
I am NOT referring to desktop icons or Internet Explorer icons -- just the ones which are controlled by the "View" in Files and Folders.
I have searched for an answer. Haven't found any questions with the exact same issue.
One of the problems this creates is that WAV files now have a music symbol -- but so do MP3 files when displayed in LIST or DETAILS view.
The images below are the SAME FILES in the SAME FOLDER. One shows a music icon, the other an MP3 icon. The files are MP3.
Before the update, different file types had different icons of different colors -- which made it easy to distinguish a file type at a glance.
Is there a setting somewhere within Win 7 where I can control this?
This is the DETAILS View which shows a "Music" symbol.
This is the CONTENTS view which shows an MP3 symbol.
