I am unable to add a new working email account. I am running Windows Live Mail (Version 2012 Build 16.4.3564.1216) and IE11 on Windows 7.

I currently have three email accounts. A primary MSN account, and secondary Outlook and Hotmail accounts. All work properly. The last two were added about 6 months ago using default server configurations. All three show the mail server is the HTTP server https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/sync.aspx. NOTE: Sometime in that 6 month period I installed Windows 10 and then, with great difficulty, reinstalled Win 7.

If, for example, I try to add the account *** Email address is removed for privacy *** using the default settings, i.e., without manually configuring the server settings, WLM indicates that the the email account was added and it appears in the folder pane. Then a Logon request for User Name and Password appears. If I cancel the request, I get a message saying that "Some e

rrors occurred while processing the request" but no listing of error types or numbers. If I enter the UN and PW, the same thing happens. I also see a message saying that WLM is synchronizing the account (why the synchronize? I expect the default account to be POP3?).

I have tried many suggested fixes to the problem with no success. Most recently, I tried to create a new account by following the approach suggested at:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/wiki/livemail-email/windows-live-mail-and-outlook-mail/6edb5ba6-f9f2-40fd-80a1-fc23cc6fbfe0

The final step required connecting to the server to download the account folders. Since this was a new account this should not have taken long. It never connected. The message was "Authentication Failed. Server rejected your login. Please verify your UN & PW".

Any suggestions?
