About storage and syncing

If i have 50 GB storage (of which 25 GB is full) and i want to share my folders with my friends who have only 7 GB of storage. Can they sync with my folders or not? 
I´m asking because for example Dropbox won´t let sync in such case asks from all of my friends to buy more storage
