Will the Windows 10 Anniversary Update allow for setting up groups for emailing?

Very aggravating that the Windows 10 has not allowed the opportunity.

Wiki Article
Windows Live Mail and Outlook Mail
Created by ¡Firedog
Technical Level : Basic
Summary

The new version of Outlook.com is called Outlook Mail, sometimes referred to as 'Outlook on the web'. This version is built on the Office 365 platform, which should bring some performance improvements, and there are several interface enhancements. Some details of the preview version have been given in this blog post: New ways to get more done in Outlook.com.

However, the new version no longer supports the DeltaSync protocol which is the default configuration for Microsoft email accounts in Windows Live Mail. Unless and until an update is released for Windows Live Mail to enable support for Exchange ActiveSync that grants synchronizing access to Microsoft email accounts (those @outlook, @hotmail, @live, @msn, @windowslive and any other free account with a mailbox at mail.live.com), other methods will be needed. This article explains how to work around part of the problem by using IMAP instead.

Keywords: "server error 3219", "error 0x8DE00005", "updating the calendar", "Outlook Email"

Details

Many Outlook.com accounts have already been upgraded to the new version. The indications of this for the user are:

A new layout on the web. The banner at the top of the page seems to vary, probably from market to market; this is the one I see:

In Windows Live Mail, an error message when synchronizing:

Deactivate the old account

This account will no longer work, new messages will not be downloaded and there will be no synchronization of other folders. For the time being, then, right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Properties. On the General tab, deselect Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing, then click Apply and OK. This will ensure that the account folders will remain intact with their contents during the transition.

{continues ...}

This article goes on to give all the necessary instructions and worked a treat - I now can use my Hotmail accounts again on WLM! Brilliant!

One question: now the 'old account' has been deactivated (see paragraph just above my italics text) can that be deleted in it's entirety from WLM without compromising the new accounts and the content that is still there?

Thanks for any help.

John

Split from this thread.

My Windows Live Mail 11 (desktop version) stopped working at some point last evening.

I was sending and receiving messages all day yesterday from work no issue.

When I got home, I checked my email from home laptop and got an error.

I thought it had something to do with the hotmail server and figured I'd wait it out.

I came in to work this morning and got the same error from work computer.

However, I can see the email if I login to the Microsoft website.

This is the error:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (ddv815) account.

Server Error: 3219
Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00005

Is this a temporary issue?

If they're going to stop using Windows Live Mail you would think they would have warned us.

Why does windows LIVE movie maker suddenly take so long to process even a short video in windows 7?

It never used to be so slow at editing videos, now it takes ages even to process a clip seconds long.
