Windows Live Mail FAQ
I have recently installed a clean version of Windows 7 and downloaded Windows Live Mail. I have imported my Outlook Express folders from Windows.old but I cannot see them in WLM.
Within Windows Explorer I can see all of the OE folders within
/Users/{me}/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail/Storage Folders/Imported Folder/Local Folders/
Why do these not appear in WLM?

I've had an issue on 2 completely different machines both using windows live mail 2011. First call I received I taught it was a user mistake. But when my neighbor came to me with the same problem after only 10 minutes after his upgrade and only using WLM11 I figured this might be on account of W10.
Both upgraded to windows 10 and their contacts dissappeared.
So I started my search and found numerous topics on where to find the contact lists.
Going to the directory I found a few folders that I all checked but showed empty as if they were gone.
I then checked the folder size of the complete "Contacts" folder. Which in one case was over 160 MB, and in the other over 188 MB.
This size was given to folders that show completely empty apart from the folders itself. So technically windows 10 shows me empty folders but shows a size of more than 160&180 MB.
Could it be that windows 10 hides files? I've also checked "hidden" files but nothing there either. Has w10 corrupted the data in these folders? Is there any way to recover his contacts? He & she never signed in with WLM11.

I recently upgraded my HP Touchsmart, 64bit computer system from Windows Home Premium to Windows 10. When I tried to log on Windows Live Mail, I received an error message: "8004882a unable to log in at this time". Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Please advise. Thank you.

I would be very interested if anyone has a remedy / fix for the below error message. The below appears message when opening the mail (Essential 2012), which prevents me receiving any emails. The web version and my windows 7 notebook works well. This error message appears on PC is a windows 7/vista upgraded to Windows 8.1
Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (charles_dobson) account.

In Win7 I used Live Mail2011, with three addresses hosted by 1and1. Now a new laptop with windows 8.1. I downloaded Live mail and now can read one of my addresses, (automatically set up for me apparently) But cannot find how to register the others. Any help, please?
An update stated that it could not install because I already had a 'flavor'. Advised to uninstall Windows Live Essentials. Did that. Now I get the Windows Live Essentials cannot be installed to Vista. What is up with that bogus advice?
Now in this posting, I am forced to choose Photo Gallery when I had to uninstall ALL of Live Essentials.
but it took 5 hours to upload Windows 1o
now i have to go back to 8.1 just to be able to use my media Player will take toooooooooooooo long
is nt there any other way to get media Player running besides paying for something i already have paid for, when i bought my laptop
