It seems as if everything works fine. I hit the Sync button and it tells me all is sync'ed up (except if I log in to my account via the web browser I've got mail). So I close up Outlook and then start it back up. Oh, Yes, it see's my mail and downloads it. But then I get this strange feeling I've got mail where I will hit the sync button and nothing. I'll log into my account again via the web browser and sure enough really do have mail.....I'll try and do another sync and Office will give me the message that it is sync'ing followed by the msg that all is sync'ed (except once again I can see that isn't true as there are emails on the server Office isn't seeing)....So once again I close out of Outlook and then restart Outlook, and once again (it's magic) all the emails are there.....I can go on and on with this loop and let it sit for hours and it still won't see the emails unless I restart it.  What the heck is going on and is there a work around????

PS....I've also noticed that if I do a "Purge Deleted Items" and then do a sync, it will once again all of a sudden work. It appears something is hanging the software up until you either restart it or perform a Purge, otherwise it will not download emails even though there are emails on the server.

PSS...I'm also getting a popup msg that states "can not open message 268"....And the 268 number isn't always the same....

Seems like most people that report this issue are using an IMAP/POP email account.

This is in an office setting using an Office 365/Exchange mailbox.  It's happened four times in the last month.

I have the user's mailbox configured in Outlook 2011 on his work iMac, home iMac, Macbook plus his iPhone and iPad.  It's also configured on his assistant's iMac.  Six total devices.  All Office updates have been installed for OS X on the four Macs.

The dozen subfolders in the user's Inbox disappear without a trace.  They aren't in the "On My Computer" section, they aren't in Deleted Items, they aren't moved to another mailbox in Outlook, they're not in OWA so the deletion is syncing back to MS' servers.  They're simply gone.  This isn't user-error, you can't select-all and just delete a dozen folders accidentally several times in one month.  You can't delete folders from an iOS device.

After the disappearance Outlook still functions properly and syncs back to the server.  After the folders are gone I can create a new subfolder that shows up in OWA.  If I move items to the new subfolder that change is reflected in OWA as well.

The current work-around is ridiculous, the user powers off his Macbook every morning and disconnects it from his home wireless network.  That way if the deletion bug strikes he can go home, leave his Macbook offline, export the subfolders, connect his Mac back to the Internet, let Outlook sync all the deletions and then import the recently exported subfolders.  That is absurd and he's lost patience.

I've tried rebuilding the identity on his main computer (the office iMac) and the folders do not return.

****

If I search for an email that was stored in a subfolder in Finder/Spotlight it DOES turn up but we cannot open it.  It says "this item cannot be opened because it's not associated with the default identity".

****

Are there any data size limitations that I need to be aware of on the local computers?  Although I'd imagine that'd cause the user to simply stop receiving new messages, not make several folders vanish into thin air.

The only options I see at this point are:

1) Export the folders, delete all old identities on the four Macs and create a new identity on each, then import the folders.  That seems crazy and not something I'm willing to do on a recurring basis if this keeps up but I'll try it once.

2) Transition to Apple Mail.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

I am having trouble finding a way to send an invite to a co-worker who uses a PC to share calendars.  She was able to send me an invite and i was able to accept it. Though our calendars are meshed into one instead of having them viewed side by side like in regular microsoft for windows.  Please help as soon as possible.

Thank you

hi,

After i upgrade to maverik 10.9.2 i cant share any calendar.

all Calendar share options like '' open calendar or calendar permissions''

I have to share my Calendar at work and have to see other shared calendars.

how can I fix this problem?

I recently upgraded to Maverick X and initially lost all email accounts and contacts.  I rebuilt my identity and got that back.  However, now when I search for emails, nothing after December of 2013 appears.
Does anyone know why Outlook is refusing to print more than the first page of any email?  I'm sure it used to print more.

My outlook in mac runs on the imap livemail account, but the contacts on the outlook in mac are not uploaded to the virtual livemail account. My contacts are divided in outlook into contact groups and altogether I have over 4000 contacts. I do not want to import all my contacts into livemail, I just want to import one contact group - around 200 contacts. I want these contacts to be visible in livemail and accessible wherever I log into livemail.

I cannot seem to do this through livemail, I have tried through people > manage > import contacts > import from file , but livemail cannot read any of the files I have tried to upload.

I have tried sending the contacts as a vcf attachment, but I can only then download the vcf files onto my pc, and then open them as vcf files, I cannot seem to be able to take the vcf files and save them into my contacts list.

I have also tried to export a contact group as an oml file (to be able to transfer to a different pc and upload onto a pc and then upload onto livemail from a pc not a mac) but this doesn't work. I cannot do anything with the oml file after I have exported it, I cannot open it, I cannot move it or anything. I need to be able to take the oml and open it on a windows software pc.

So how can I take a contact group from outlook on mac and either open it as a contact group in my livemail account, or transfer it to a windows software pc outlook?

I'll be grateful for help.

Since yesterday, I have been unable to click on the search box in office 365 mail. This means I cannot search through my mail with my own filters to look for specific messages. Has anyone had this problem - can you suggest a way to resolve this irritating glitch?

After configuring Outlook 2011 (Mac) to access two IMAP accounts hosted by my hosting provider (Dreamhost) AND Outlook is able to access the account,, after a little while I will constantly get notified with the following:

The server for account "<account name>" returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

It turns out that Outlook is disabling the authentication settings on the outgoing server - changing my setting from 'Use Incoming Server Info' to 'None'.

I seriously doubt this is a Mac problem seeing as how the Outlook account configuration is an Outlook responsibility.

Once I corrected the changes,  the messages stop. However, they do reappear from time to time.

I know Outlook is a 'champ' with Exchange, but this kind of carelessness, on the part of Microsoft, is a reminder of whom Microsoft is looking after and it isn't the consumer.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Hi

I use a desktop and laptop for business and personal use and want to have Outlook consistent across both devices.

When I create categorise sometimes they are available on both and on other occasions they are not. How can I create a category that can sync across both devices?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Dan
