I have updated Silverlight, cleared my cache, etc.  Just keeps taking me back to the beginning of resetting my password! Finally I created a new outlook account. Help!

I cannot use the password I have written down to sign into my hotmail account.  I tried to reset my password, but am unable to do so, because I don't recognize the email address listed, and when I fill out the information on the account reset page, I am told that there is not enough information to get back into my account.  How do I rectify this issue.  I tried calling, but am told that all answers are on the support site.  I am unable to get anywhere on the site, given that I only have 3 options that I cannot use.

When I go to a website and request I forgot my password I dont get it right away like i use to the last few time that I have done this it will not show up in my inbox until the next day.  I have read post on this web site with simular issues and none of them answer my question.
Why is it that everytime I install updates something else goes wrong with hotmail now its outlook! Not a happy customer. I now have the above happening selectively on emails. I have removed Silverlight as suggested but its still not working on certain emails.
I have Windows live on Windows 8.1 Preview.   Frequently but not with any regularity my system will not be able to get a response from the Domain Name Server.   When this occurs it is always after I have used Windows Live Mail.   It doesn't matter if mail is still open or not.   It has never happened with any other app.   I can reach my router and I can ping to an outside IP address but not get to a "Name" address.   I solve the hang by rebooting the router or release and reconnect.    Another machine going through the same router while the above hang is happening cannot hit the DNS either.   Other machines on the same router use different mail apps and do not have problems.
Mail has SSL2 and SSL3 checked.   I have tried with different DNS servers.
Any ideas?

I just got a new desktop with Windows 8. I set-up my email using Outlook and noticed there weren't very many options. After doing some research, I discovered that the blue task ribbon that is normally on top is not there. I've tried settings, just about everything else I can think of...no luck. It was never there from the start, how do I get it?

I am unable to receive email on one of my live accounts.  I am getting the message:  Server Error: 5102   Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00002

I have sent a test message from that account to another live account and it was received, but cannot receive new mail or access any saved messages in any folders.  My incoming mail from that account can be accessed on my iPad and iPhone.  I have attempted to follow the instructions posted in response to others, but have been unable to get beyond the first step.  I am running Windows 7 and when I get into the commands, I cannot get beyond REGSVR32 initpki.dll.  I get a message that "it failed to load".

Please advise.

[Moved from feedback]

I am currently using Windows Live Essentials 2012 - Live Mail. and have been doing so for about a year. Now when ever I try to create a new calendar event it will not let me do so and reports that Live Mail is having a problem reading the message. I find this very strange as all message have been read, deleted or junked and I am trying to use the calendar not the mail section.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem.

Would also just like to state that Live Mail 2010 was the greatest mail program ever - it was stupid to have made any changes to it.

Regards

Michael
