I have lost email addresses from my categories - randomly, there are a handful of addresses in some of them (not the most recently added, either). Can I recover these? Why has this happened? This is the second time I've lost addresses from WLM - Can anyone suggest an alternative program that is more stable, and doesn't cause me constant nightmares! I'm using Windows Live Mail 2011, on Windows 7 64bit

Ok so I've been editing this video in WMM and I needed to add a watermark overlay, so I downloaded Expressions and put the video in and put a nice overlay on, when I was done I encoded it back to wmv. best quality and so on, once its done I can play the movie in windows media just fine, but when I put it in WMM it just comes up as a 7 second black screen, no sound, nothing. not sure what I'm doing wrong as the file type should be fine, its also worth noting that before the encoding the file is about 2gb, but afterwards its only about 800mb.

any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Within the last week or so Windows Live Mail 2012 went from downloading new messages at a rate of 3-4per second to 1 every 2 seconds and seems to be getting slower by the day. I have tried repairing the app., tried opening a new account to no avail. Is there something else I can try.

My email provider is ATT Mail powered by Yahoo.

I'd like to use Windows Mail to bring in my Gmail account and e-mails. However, after numerous attempts and following proper IMAP/or POP3 instructions, I keep getting this error. I'm able to see what is in my inbox, but not download folders that I have within my e-mail address that I've established using Gmail.

My user name and password information is correct, so what else could be causing this issue?

I've followed these instructions from Gmail themselves. However, within Windows Live Mail, I did notice that only the SSL option is available as opposed to TLS/STARTTLS. Could that be a problem?

Why does the programs in Windows Live 2011 have less features to them then Windows Essentials 2012? Like for instance, when I opened a movie or video in Movie Maker 2012, I could hear the audio as I edited the video, but when I open a movie or video in Movie 2011, I can't hear the audio at all. And Movie Maker 2012 saved the video in MP4 format, but Movie Maker 2011 only saved the video in WMV format.

I have been able to download e-mails fairly OK - sometimes slow. Yesterday, the embedded links quite functioning. The text would be fine until "click to read more." It would not respond. Sometimes the link would be highlighted upon my click, but not always. I have attempted "set your default programs"  to ensure the "enable" box  was checked with no good response. Any suggestions, please?

Split from this thread.

It has become obvious over time that MSFT is actively sabotaging Live mail since it got millions of people to depend on it and then decided to dump it. Windows updates routinely cause Live Mail errors which i believe are intentional, to force folks to use the outlook option.  My Live will work just fine for weeks and then start throwing out a cascade of errors, like empty msgs, "cannot connect to server" and any other crap they can dream up to get it not to work properly.  They thought they got rid of it when they forced you to change settings from pop3 to imap as most users just gave up and went with Outlook.  Now you have to rotate In/Out server settings every few months as the old ones simply stop working.  So if you can't get Live mail to work correctly, it is because your not supposed to.  MSFT decided to make a change and they have been been particularly customer focused anyway so it is nothing new.
